The R9 280 is similar to a GTX 960. But some games favor Nvidia or Radeon, so we can't say much about how the 280 performs in Witcher 3. You will have to wait for benchmarks that should pop up shortly after launch.
well seeing as this game has hair works which i'm pretty sure is a nvidia thing I would assume they are building with nvidia in mind...The R9 280 is similar to a GTX 960. very few games show improvement . i agree that my previous statement was an exaggeration , but it is not far from the truth esp with ddr4 rams vs ddr 3 in the current statei will not agree on this one.
According to this article (google translate it): http://www.purepc.pl/pamieci_ram/jakie_pamieci_ram_wybrac_test_ddr3_13332400_mhz_w_grach
you can get a 7-20% boost in fps (depending on game, game settings, CPU architecture).
Generally, if you play without any AntiAliasing, then quality ram helps to achieve higher frames
It might not be much, but good RAM isn't expensive. Especially, when we compare its price to a new CPU or GPU.
if optimzed properly , amd is better, but sadly that is not the case .Everywhere I see are reports regarding nVidia cards, but sadly, I made a mistake some time ago and got myself an AMD R9 280. Any idea how it would do ? Except that, I have i5-4690k and 16GB ram.
EDIT: Just for clarification, I know pretty much nothing about PC hardware, and I have no idea if my card comares to which nVidia card. All I know is that buying that AMD wasn't a good idea, or so I was told by people who know much better than me <.<
was about to link that myself, nice way of showing what cards let you do what. still sad AMD hasn't gotten any attention at all thoughHave you guys seen this?

Also a little bit weird what Nvida saying:
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s May 18th release is tantalizingly close. On PC, the experience will be enhanced with higher-resolution textures, higher-quality effects, higher levels of detail, uncapped framerates, and many other enhancements. And like the latest and greatest PC games, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is further enhanced with NVIDIA technologies and GameWorks effects that increase immersion and image quality throughout the 100-hour action RPG.
Higer-resolution textures?? They were the same as console, right?.
Also the difference between SSAO en HBAO+ is big.

We only seeing ultra gameplay with SSAO.
Sounds too good to be trueThe German mag "PCGamesHardware" published a teaser for their test of the PC version, which will come next week.

- Performance is good on an i7 even when downclocked to 2GHz and without HT
- Ultra details @ 1080p are playable with a GTX 770 / R9 280X (AMD card perform well)
- 2GB VRAM are enough for 1080p
They also made a video to show the difference between min and max details on PC.

Yea, sadly it is not a flagship title that pushes a high end PC to its limits. But at least it still looks great and runs well on systems without SLI.although a little sad too... i expected visuals at ulra to be of ps5 quality
The Game looks real good in 4k. Better save some money for Titan X.Not sure if this has already been posted here but:
Watch it on youtube at your preferred resolution. Looks gorgeous![]()
I'm pretty sure that PC vs PS4 video is not accurate. Some other fully ultra videos lying around show the game looking gorgeous and better than that is showing plus people that have seem the game say the PC version is noticeably better than PS4 and Xbone sooooo I call bullshit. There's also a commentated 4K video running on a Titan X: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuskgsmIe6k
I watched it on a 1440p screen and it looks great. Though they show that the framerate tanks when using Hair Works even on a Titan X.
