A couple of gameplay feature requests

Hello !

So, I've been playing since release and having a blast ! But as time goes, I run into some quality of life issues I'd like to point. It's nothing really major, gamebreaking, or anything, just some things that would make the whole gameplay experience much smoother:

1. As I've posted in another thread, a toggle option to make signs instant cast. Link for detailed explanation: forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/36901-Tiny-feature-request-Toggle-option-for-instant-cast-signs

2. The potion slots are shared with food. In lower difficulties, I guess it's ok. But I'm playing on the hardest, and end up eating / drinking quite alot, and seeing as I need my potions to be ready at all times, I find it tiring having to go to the inventory screen each time I want to grab a bite to eat or something to drink. Having those on the quick access menu would be nice.

3. Same goes for oils. Maybe I did something wrong here, but having to go to the inventory screen for each application of oil isn't fun, especially when the UI doesn't show how many charges I have left. We could atleast have those on the quick access aswell.

4. The beastiary and character glossary are nice, but I feel there are quite alot of lore or world knowledge missing from it. Places, important events, plants and quite alot of other stuff. For example, to craft specter oil I needed to find a certain herb. I had no idea how it looked like, and I had no idea that in my entire region it didn't exist [maybe I just missed it, but now I have like 200 of each other herb :x], and I had to buy it from a herbalist. I think that it would fit the game from an RP point of view, as I assume witchers should know where to find herbs, and how they look like.

I know this is pretty much too late, as the game is already released, and there's no real point adding so much, but I'd still like to put it out there :)

Second this I'm finding the 2 slots for quick use cumbersome atm, inventory organisation need tweaking too, either make oils easier to see or add them next to geralt as seperate clickable buttons so we can just apply them without fumbling through the inventory.

Hear, hear.

Especially about the herbs. Maybe I just missed it, but I haven't yet found anything in-game to help me narrow down the search of those ingredients you're missing. Having some indication will be appreciated. Of where to find them in nature, that is, not a herbalist. As it stands, if I'm missing an ingredient, I have no clue where to search. The direction the game gives you doesn't have to be specific. In fact, I rather it not be specific. General directions are more fun and leave the sense of exploration, whereas no direction at all just creates aimless wandering which is less fun. What sort of general directions? Woods, caves, near water, mountains, north-west of Novigrad, south of Kaer Trolde, etc. How to pass the information? Maybe an in-game herbalism book, or an information window that opens when you hover over the herb in the alchemy menu.

That's exactly what I meant ! Having a glossary entry about herbs for example:

Celandine: [small picture of the bush] A small bush with yellow flowers that can be found in lush forests under the shade. [add more lore stuff here]
Just an example, I don't really know much about it :x
That way we'd know not to look for it in caves, swamps, or open fields. Or if it would state for example, northern regions of Vizima, I know to expect to not find those around White Orchard, and assume there's more in Velen. [still, just an example, the info is entirely wrong]

EDIT: It's a bit of shame that this game didn't have a very small and closed beta test prior to release to polish out such small but important quality of life and UI issues. I think we would've had a much smoother better game, with a much better gameplay experience

I know it's frowned upon, but I'm going to bump this for the first and last time. Seeing as I post most of my posts around noon/morning, I feel there are not enough people browsing the forums at these hours, and I'd like to have another go at this reaching more people. Apologies if that's a bigger no-no than I thought :)
