A great number of '?' quest markers remain

Hopefully a question that will elicit some spoiler free opinion from those who have been hitting the quest markers.

Having followed main and side quests 'as I bumped into them', there are a good number of '?' quest markers around the edges of the map.
As a level 18 who has just reached Skellige, should I take some time out to explore these areas,
or is it likely that main plots will take me to several of these areas of the map anyway?

Certainly not looking for spoilers, but if I leave them unvisited
will they basically never be visited?

Thank you ^_^

I would say wait till you are a little higher level to discover them since a few of the islands do have higher level monsters on them.

As with everything, it's all about the grey areas.

Do both ;)

Just a question: What are these Question Marks you're talking about? I don't recall seeing them do they just appear on the minimap?

Have no idea how they appeared on my map, but they are at the northern part of Skellige

How far into the game are you?

In the tutorial zone there are several undiscovered 'things' be they monster dens, protected loot chests or whatever. Until you go near them, you cannot tell what they are.

Have you actually started playing the game yet? :/

I actually just finished it after 133h, but still don't remember seeing them but if they only appear on the minimap than i can understand it since I left it turned off for most of the game with the exception for horse races

They are actually on the main map, not the mini one, as by the time they appear on the mini, they have been discovered so are no longer question marks (as a rule)

I can only speak on behalf of White Orchard. There were no "?" on my main map until I read things on the notice board in town. After that, many "?" marks appeared on my main map for me to discover. Until you get close to them, you don't know if it's guarded treasure, a monster nest, a place of power, a smugglers cache, an abandoned site, spoils of war, etc.

What is it with the mini map? Your hooked to the mini for some strange reason.
