Every year we toast to multiple anniversaries for our games and studio, but it’s not every year we get to celebrate a milestone quite as big as 20 Years of Community. And on Saturday, September 28th, celebrate it we sure did!
We invited 40 of the most active and dedicated members of our Polish community from Discord and official forums, including our star team of moderators, to the CD PROJEKT RED HQ in Warsaw, and we made sure to make the most out of it. As people started arriving, they were immediately equipped with a celebratory jacket, a set of patches that they could use to customize their Legendary drop, a winter hat, stickers, as well as custom sets of temporary tattoos and magnets — all themed around the 20 Years of Community event. No one leaves a CD PROJEKT RED party empty-handed, and this party was not going to be an exception!
A speech from CD PROJEKT RED's Community team: Alicja Kozera, Amelia Kołat, Marcin Łukaszewski, Marcin Momot and Sebastian Siejka, who welcomed everyone on site, kicked off the celebrations. We were also presented a beautiful gift from the community — a very special Raróg figure along with a decorative plate with signatures of dozens of community members. And, of course, a box of pierniki aka gingerbread. Because nothing says you’re old quite as ‘subtly’ as associating someone with a ‘stary piernik’ (which is equivalent to calling someone an ‘old fart’ in English
Studio tours are a staple of ours, and we made sure every community member present got to see the place where we work and where The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 were born — from the halls of the main office building to the hands-on area, to the tavern where we used to host GWENT Tournaments, among other events, our gym and games room, and beyond. We also had a special visit from Kamil Kula, the Polish voice of male V, who joined us for one of the tours and really enjoyed his visit, as did the community members who noticed him in the crowd and got to chat with him! He wasn’t the last celebrity who dropped by office that day…
Among the many surprises we had planned for our guests, some of which will remain a secret (consider this incentive to keep your activity high on our forums, Discord, and social media!), was a Q&A session with a pair of very special guests: Lidia Sadowa, the Polish voice of female V, and Marta Żmuda Trzebiatowska, the Polish voice of Judy, later joined by our very own Mikołaj Szwed (Localization Director) and Konrad Chlasta (Quest Design Lead). Both actresses were asked about their roles, their experiences portraying their characters in Cyberpunk 2077 (and in the case of Marta, also Thronebreaker!), and their experiences with doing voice-overs in general, with Mikołaj and Konrad tackling subjects of localization, casting, VO recordings, and quest design respectively. There were many questions, equally as many answers, if not more, and plenty of laughs to boot! Not to mention opportunities to grab a photo with Lidia and Marta afterward.
What followed was the next set of attractions — charades, a hardcore quiz themed around all things Community-related, as well as Family Feud, where participants had to provide answers they believed REDs provided.
As the day was starting to wind down, we served our guests a beautiful cake bearing the 20 Years of Community logo designed by our Creative team and crafted by the one and only Serhii Shevchuk, followed by a Witcher 2: Assassin’s of Kings tournament in the game’s Arena Mode — and it was a blast (from the past, one could say!), which concluded the party.
On this note, we would like to thank our guests for attending the event — we hope you had as much fun as we did! Even more so, we’d like to thank our amazing community for making our hearts beat that much faster and harder. Your support is the reason we want to go above and beyond in everything we do. May this wonderful journey we’re all on together continue forever!
Yours truly,
CD PROJEKT RED Community Team
