A more gentle Witcher

Hello,

I have had The Witcher 3 recommended to me several times, I've been told that I need to experience it's story first hand and I've also noticed that it has won Game of the Year.

I have a slight problem with this, it has a little bit more blood and nudity then titles I would normally approach.

I'd really like to experience the game however, and I've heard that the German version is more censored.
What I'd like to know is if this is true, and if so - if it's capable to play the more censored version of the game in English?

Thank you for your time.

I live in Germany, but play it on English. Yes, the language is very rude at times. Also, there are naked women!! I don't know how to change this.

I don't think there is anything that you can really do to tone down the violence. I guess maybe turn off automatic finishers in the options menu.

I may not be the one to preach here, but the violence and nudity in Witcher 3 never exists for the sake of itself, it's always related to the story and is a result of the way the Witcher universum actually is. It's a game, where beauty meets evil, showing both the beauty in humans as much as the "dark streets" of old cities (and so on). Just like in real life :) So as much as it's of course up to you to decide, I wouldn't reccomend playing it if you just want to "level up and beat the game". And all the burtality and nudity (which you wouldn't find in much places, anyway) creates the mood of the game and creates the story. Have fun and enjoy, hope you find censored version if you really desire so! :)

Well unfortunately this game isn't for you if you find nudity, violence and profanity to block the enjoyement of the game. I tend instead to like the gritty approach of TW universe.

I might suggest playing BW games they are toned down and maybe more to your liking

The Arabian/Middle eastern version is heavily censored. I don't know if you can play it in english. Maybe you should look if its possible to play that version.

censored versions still have strong language and violence, maybe this gae isn't for you
to get the full experience you must play it as it is

But does it make sense to play a such heavy censored version of the game? In my opinion cenorship destroys the overall composition CDPR had intended. So it isn't anymore the same game.

Yeah I would say apart from combat finishers, the majority of violence and nudity lends itself to the story. I can think of a number of quests where its fairly key in building tone and character, and for the most part it's toned down from witcher 2.

i agree 100%. The combat finisher - I like them really! :popo:Is that smilie a finisher too? - are the only stuff it's possible to take out without losses.

I am a gamer that generally does not like gratuitous violence or sex which serves no purpose but to spice up a game. If it fits in the game, then by all means... The Witcher has lots of violence but it's all in the game's context. If you remove the game finishers (which I do like!), you will get a bit less gore, and the remaining violence suits the story well. I mean, he kills monsters and thugs for a living. It's bound to happen. So you will see violence but it won't be cartoony violence. As for the sex, you can probably skip most of the nude scenes. But the game will have lots of suggestive themes and well... sexy sorceresses. To me, the suggestivity has been increased for fan service. More than I'd want to see/hear, but actual nudie bits are few are far between unless you are looking for it. So you'll see it around the whole world, but you can try to ignore it when you see it (i.e., ignore all the propositions and walk away from them to stop listening to them).

Have you watched Game of Thrones? Basically about that level of gore/sex. If you want a more light type of game (cartoony, lighter fantasy themes), try DAI. To me, it was too juvenile for my liking. IMHO, TW3 is way better than DAI, unless character customization and exploration as a unique character is your thing.

This is sort of on topic I suppose, the "suggestivity" of sorceresses is totally from the books.

It's not necessarily needed but fairly true to their characters, by that I mean the modest (for a sorceress) sorceresses from books are modest and the sugestive are sugestive.

IMHO asking for a Witcher game with less physical violence or less naked bodies, or less strong dialogues is like asking for a classical Disney without a tear, or a Star Wars without a laser shoot.... Since CDPR has respected the original source about this subject, I cannot see a gentler witcher's world as a true witcher's world.

Geralt of Rivia belongs to a very specifical world (marvelously itemized by A. Sapkowski) where rudeness of human life is everywhere and everytime,

MAybe future be gentler and bring some (horrible) mods for hiding the essence of Geralt of Rivai's Story.

You truly can skip most "hard nudity" parts with just not romancing anybody.

This game is so great because it is what it is. Adult and dark. That age limit is there for a good reason. I don't like porn or action movies or brainless violation, but I truly like this game. That hard world makes those beautiful moments look even more beautiful. And by beautiful I don't mean just sex. And story is so great, that you don't even notice if there sometimes is few heads flying around :)

This is the most Disney moment in the game if that's what you want. I'm not sure whether you're a troll or not considering your name but this universe is a lot like our own, you can't live life without witnessing beauty and death.

This game is pretty much "Game of Thrones" only way better.

Therefor nudity, violence, rude language, dark story and etc. are expected and honestly I see no reason for any censoring because then entire game would need to be censored and it simply would....kinda to tell you truth ruin game. This is dark story as I said and I don't see how can it work without serious violence and gore? That is like eating only eggs without bacon to spice it up and make it actual breakfast.

Nudity can be dealt with fine but as someone already said "Don't romance anyone" because no one is forcing you to bang anyone and you won't be nude, simple. As for rest of game I mean seriously they would need to remake in fact entire game in order to censor it, voice actors would need to make extra dialogues instead of of 'F words'...and honestly put yourself in developers shoes and tell me would you waste your money and resources just for....this? Not worth it.

So if gore ain't your thing, violence in general, you can't stand little of 'F words' because you are too polite, hate dark themed stories, nudity upsets you(humans are funny they are only ones being embarrassed about their own bodies)...then I say change game this ain't your thing then love ;).

And I know that "other said it was good and I must try it" but so what? I remember my friends getting hooked to LOL game and suggesting me to try it out but never did because mobas aren't my thing, simple. And game like 'The Witcher' series is more then obviously not your thing sweetie, therefor I see no reason of you to force yourself to play just in order "not to miss something great out". Because if any game no matter how good is to everyone and me is making you uncomfortable....then in your books that is already game that is not worthy of trying out and you won't miss anything out, because simply it ain't your thing.
