OMG this forum is full of wussies, I don't get what's so taboo about Sex & nudity, Hell I don't see any of you weenies complaining about the violence in this game, Why don't you guys ask the devs to take away the blood and replace it with rainbows ?

Actually, it seemed people were coming to a kind of understanding. Also, just FYI - you may have misunderstood a couple of posts.

Is there a reason the U.S. should be stuck with a censored version? Censorship will be the deciding factor on whether or not I order from GoG, by the way. I will have nothing less than the uncensored version for myself.

Well, there are four reasons actually - E.S.R.B. :)

Is it the sex or the violence they are most worried with? Don't think there is worse violence in the Witcher compared with other games, but I guess the sex is a bit more explicit and visual. Again, though, I find it extremely silly that showing a tit here and there is worse than showing people murdering each other with axes and swords, with blood spatting about. But we do live in a sick world.

Yes we all know that it's silly and believe me I agree, but that's the reality in the states. Too many people are hell bent on censorship here in the land of the 'free'. I better stop there. :(I would really like a physical hardcopy of this game so I can get the guide, maps, etc. So please keep us posted on this issue Tomasz. I suppose I can order from Amazon to get the uncensored version?

I would love that too. Really hope it's possible to get a physical copy with maps and guide and a DRM-free game. That would be ACE!Or at least a way to get a physical copy of the map and guide. I suppose a digital copy through GOG is a good solution, but I prefer to have books physically in front of me. And particularly for a game when the screen is busy anyway ;)

Yeah, well, the question of where you can buy each version of TW2 and is probably more to our publishers than us. And I don't think TW2 has either more sex nor violence compared to TW. Thus we aim towards the same ratings. Still, that might mean ESRB won't let go of certain things - we (I know, unfortunately) will have to wait and see.

So if I got this correct, the GOG version will indeed be censorship free since GOG is the publisher in this case?

I cannot find a clear answer on this Freakie, but some on the forums claim GoG will be uncensored. There is no confirmation of this at their site. The hypocrisy here is not that games have violence, while boobs throw some people into a fit; it's that other games have both and are on the market, uncensored. Perhaps TW1 got censored because of the realism. There's nothing stylized about the Dryad and her breasts or pubic hair - there it all is, plain as day, and that may be the most terrifying thing of all for many people. That said, I wonder how the ESRB could monitor or regulate downloads to America? Technically, its not being sold in America, that's why I've assumed the GoG version was uncensored. Thanks to Gop for responding. The game's not done, so we have to wait and see.

I am certain I have seen from official sources that the GOG version will be censorship free. No reason not to really. A website has much more freedoms like that than a physical retailer. And considering it was only the US version of TW that was censored (I think), I would think that's the only potential problem with TW2 as well. European and GOG versions will surely be uncensored.Right CDPR? ;)

Thank you for that. I seriously hope that's the only reason for it & now I can happily go on with my pre-order from Europe where ages 18+ for a damn rating are actually allowed to exist with published video games. For all of you scratching your heads & not understanding let me make it real simple for you. Heck I already did. I'll just clarify more in detail.First off, a full frontal with pubic hair missing or see through even SLIGHTLY on a mythical creature of ONLY a FEMALE body type WITH NOTHING SEXUAL EVEN HINTED AT is the SAME in the ESRB as hardcore arse to mouth being fully controlled by the player with closeups of the money shots to her face.Second, any interactivity of sexual nature even at the level of a prime time TV show ALSO IMMEDIATELY receives our proud banned game rating, er I mean AO.Third, the publisher is Namco Bandai, a company WELL KNOWN FOR EXCESSIVE censorship to attain 'T' & 'M' ratings.End of story & as long as it isn't censored elsewhere in Europe, I'm paying full for my collector's edition. Done deal.

I agree with the folks who want the sex to be optional but still available. Nothing worse in my opinion than a certain hypocrasy regarding the story and ratrings. While i will agree the game is not about sex or nudity there are certain elements that do concern me. Speaking of Bruxa, dryads, drowners these creatures being nude is how i would picture a creature beyond the human limitations of modesty, beyond caring, to be. A modest drowner, bruxa, or vampire is a MAJOR immersion breaker for me as these creatures as no longer human would not be subject to the same modesty as the serving wench in a tavern. Thier nudity is in context to how they are presented and should not even be considered an issue. Prostitutes leaning over a balcony railing jugglling thier breasts at the people below in an attempt to entice customers up to sample thier wares is a correct context for thier nudity. A little flash of skin here a peek there is so much more effective display of nudity provided the context is apropriate as it would be in the case of brothel workers. Nudity blatant with out the proper context is well just nudity as in a nude Shianni walking to and from her work with plague victims in TW1 is so completely out of context to be laughable. No folks i like nudity in a game in the proper context, a bruxa while nude is not nude in a sexual context manner it creates depth to the bruxa defines the complete lack of humanity of the bruxa. No more so that conversing with a nude dryad as these creatures while human enough in appearance lack modesty of a typical human. It is a way to define and differentiate the creatures like a drowner with thier junk on full swinging display as they charge Geralt with intent to do physical harm to the hero. I am somewhat concerned that even though i have preordered a copy of TW2 from Amazon that as an American consumer i will wind up with a censored version of the game. As an American consumer in a country full of hypocrites i may not get the game or story as intended by the artists because of some executive decision regarding the fiscal bottom line which means that the copy i have bought is censored to keep it on the shelves of retailers i do not buy from anyway. When i bought my copy of TW i bought it from a company called gogamer.com and i bought a UK import which cost me close to 70 usd for a plain jane version of the game, with out the unnecessary censorship. I am curious if i am going to have to do the same to get a version of the game that as an adult i want, i want the gritty dirty sexualy exploited reality based characters in my game. I want the lived in gritty dirty cruel world complete with ALL of the human vices on full display. TW1 was not a childrens story and i am hoping that the developers have decided that TW2 is not a childrens story i WILL be disappointed otherwise.

Again, people are misunderstanding. I'll get the game either way, I do not want to limit the creators or censor the game, I'd just like the option to remove nudity if possible. This could be via a patch or option in the game. This way those who want the nudity can have and those who don't can remove it.

Why should it be censored? 10year-olds can get uncensored films from tons of pirate websites so why should a great game like this be censored?

This is not an easy thing to do, CDPR have created one game so far so expecting them to do a lot of extra work with an option on nudity and maybe other things as well is asking a lot. They don't have unlimited money like some other game companies.

Unless you are a really seriously dense american that doesn't read (certainly not uncommon) you may have missed exactly what has been said over and over and over; your ratings board & the u.s. publisher are removing it for you & all your ilk. If you are really that disturbed by it, buy it FROM the u.s. period. Now please kindly, stfu about your demand to hide what others are born with out of your shame for the human body & lust for clothes & porno violence with female nipples covered during the disemboweling. Thanx.

That's some colorful language Tracido.Well, I have to go back to my first argument. They only release a patch to censor the game if and when they have the resources to do it. Otherwise it doesn't happen. And Dragontamer, there's an excellent chance it will be censored for the U.S anyway. So I guess...problem solved.

It's only fair to let a woman cover her private parts while she gets her gut cut out and head cut off. Seriously people. Let CDPR make the game they want to make, to make it fit with the real Geralt of Rivia from the books. If US publishers can't tackle that, then CDPR will obviously have to oblige like they did with the first game, and then release a patch to put the real stuff back in.There are so many sanitized games out there already, why can't this one be an exception? As artists and creative minds I'm sure CDPR do not like having to censor the game at all, but if they can be blocked from the US market they have to find a way around it. A patch to put the rare nipple back in is a fine solution I suppose. Certainly better than censoring it across the whole board. The whole debate continues to dumbfound me. It's not like TW is a hard-porn game with sex galore, women running around naked chasing men with massive thundering boners either.
