A quick look at the game configs XML

+
Did Witcher 2? If it did I'd say there's a very high probability that it will.

Witcher 2 did not, although it came out before the increase in popularity of 21:9 we've seen. It did support 21:9 with flawlesswidescreen, although CDPR nerf'd that functionality with future patches.

I'm not a big gamer, so my only other points of reference are Mass Effect and Battlefield 4, both of which work in 21:9 with the appropriate adjustment in FOV.

I am only a console (PS4) player these days. But this thread has been very enlightening and interesting. Thank you all for the information.

So, any indication in the files if 21:9 resolutions are supported?

Would you expect to see that in the config? I'm used to just seeing a couple of variables for screen width and height, with no indication of what are valid values.
(And if anyone HAS seen relevant values, yes, please post)

<Option id="3" displayName="uber">
<Entry overrideGroup="Foliage" varId="MaxVisibilityDepth" value="24"/>
</Option>
Anyone think this will control the distance at which foliage is visible?

these two might be interesting for some looking to make the game look like the older build. they might not need SweetFX
AllowSharpen=false
TextureMipBias=0

So, CA is definitely going to get turned off.

Will there be recommended settings for different graphics cards? Like GTX 970 can do these settings while maintaining 60fps, while 980 can do that etc?

Oh well, if I don't have to deal with that performance crap that is MSAA I'll be very happy.

Sometimes TXAA has bigger performance hit than MSAA and gives worse quality.

Dammit nothing about blood.

Although I guess there wouldn't be an xml setting specifically for blood...hm

sighhhhhh

I saw some decal settings though I am not sure what they are for, could be blood and other things.

Not quite how it works, there's multiple types of Aliasing

Geometry
Temporal
Transparency
Shader
Texture
Subpixel

MSAA only addresses Geometry Aliasing and doesn't work very well with deferred rendering IIRC. TXAA tackles Geometry AND Temporal AA. FXAA can do Transparency AA and I think subpixel too though not sure.

Bottom line is - there's multiple different types of aliasing not just 'jagged edges'.

It'd be pretty neat if you could modify these things in-game this time around, and not have to worry that your settings will get reset if you enter options in the launcher and stuff like that...

Than after you done editing your ini file, save it, close it right click on it and go to properties, check option for read-only and you are set. File will not be edited by game.
