A Time consuming game.......

I am playing ACT IV now, but I begin to feel boring......which is mainly because the LONG loading time and complicated quests :-\How can people solve the QUESTs if there is no walkthrough? How many hours it needs to complete the game?I am trying to play it without walkthrough, but I really think that the hints from the Journal are too little and sometimes like nothing..... :dead:The quests (like the one I am playing now, "The Heat of the Day") are seems not related to the main story, and it takes long time to solve it, time mainly wasted in travelling, searching for hints and NPC...etc. I must say that nearly 30-40% of game time is wasted in travelling and loading..... :pCan we make the World smaller? shorten the road/path? or can we have an option to get to the target position by one-click (something like instant move)? :peace:

Well, the long loading times can be ended by installing the 1.3 Patch. The complicated quests are, in my opnion of course, not so complicated and add to the games fun. I admit "The Heat of the Day" is a little bit open, one does not see all the possible actions. The Wither Wikia does actually have (I believe) the walkthroughs of all quests in the game.http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Category:The_Witcher_quests

You are already in act 4? Means you succeeded with act 2 which I found more complicated (regarding the main quest with all the suspects) than 'The heat of the day'.I likes games which keep me occuppied for a long time. If I want to kill time and keep me busy I play a hit'n'run game or sth like that ;D

Where did you get stuck? Maybe we can help ;)

Are you tracking the quests you are doing on the map? That will help a lot in guiding you where to go.

Thank you brothersI am already playing the 1.3 version where the loading time still..........I do have 3Gb Ram and a 512Mb GF9600 display card.... :wall: :wall: :dead:I know some of you like to walk or search for hints, but is this wasting time when you have to run a long way and kill a lot of monsters for just a simple message or a hint? I glad that I am using walkthrough but I don't think players like to play it with walkthrough, everyone likes to solve the quests by his own effort, right?

You can combine different tasks when you are on the way to someone's place or whatever you have to do. And moreover the environment is designed for exploring and discovering things. I think it's not a waste of time ;)

Hmm... I actually don´t see your problem in this, because I think the hints you can get are allright and the journal infomation is enough to solve every quest sucessfully. For a change you should play "Oblivion", that´s a boring run most of the time (okay... you can use "quick travel" ... :dead: ... good bye immersion! btw). Then you return relaxed to "TW" and think what this fuss was all about! Long, uneventful runs? Eeeeh, no! I wonder what you need a walkthrough for... for me they kill just all the suspense and they are only useful in a game with lots of stupid riddles - and Witcher doesn´t contain any (at least I cannot think of one).Anyway - a happy witching.

There is a fantastic guide right here if you want http://guides.gamepressure.com/thewitcher/ .You can also download it.The game took 38 hours to complete on my second run on normal and I loved every second of it.

I can sort of understand what you mean. Especially in Act IV where there isn't much to see or do in the various areas, it can seem quite long. Since you have to travel about 3 or 4 times back and forth just to complete one quest. The rest of the acts seem busier and have more urgency, but act iv is like a little holiday almost and you realise that it is really quite empty

Well, I didn´t feel that Act IV was too long or boring. It´s true that most of time you spend by walking/running to somwhere, but actually that´s quite usual in games. I appreciate that despite this fact, it was not boring. Act IV was like a beautiful break after dirty streets of Wyzima. I think "The Heat of the Day" wasn´t so bad. I had big problem with gathering the sephirots e.g., which forced me to use walkthrough...But it can be different for others.

I think you don't have less "running around"s than in other chapters, just take 'Memory of a Blade' But I think that's why we have several side- and contract quests. You can deal with those when you are on the way to a certain location or NPC ;)

I thought the opposite to the OP. There was always something to do in Chapter 4 (It has more main and side quests than Chapter 1). Combining the main quests with the side quests, gambling, fistfights and ingredient collection, I hardly had time for all the sex.

The most time consuming seduction was the peasant woman because you really have to check all... again and again ;D

The most time-consuming quest was the one in "Price of Neutrality", where you have to get three units of certain meat for a certain character. The quest forces you to run to the opposite side of a huge but largely empty map and back again to the quest giver. I just couldn't bring myself to complete it in one go, so I saved the game in the middle of the quest, went to play other games, then returned to it. A couple of times. :dead:

I'm a little perplexed as to why this topic ever came to be.When I first heard about this game, I read up on it from the official websites etc and thought to myself: "That'll be a nice long time-consuming game worthy of my money" and then went out and bought it. What in the world convinced people that this game WOULDN'T be time-consuming? The pretty box? ::)@Planewalker: Yeah, I hated the size of the Price of Neutrality map, and thus haven't played it again after finishing it. EVER. "Side Effects" was much more entertaining.

Well, I love the game, I'm pretty addicted to it.But I understand what the original poster means. With a better inventory with more and filterable slots, easier travelling back and forth (with more teletrasport points) in areas you allready explored and less respawn during daytime it would be overall more enjoyable for me without becoming a narrow or straight-forward game. For example, the swamp it's a little bit frustrating, I must have killed one million drowner and I'm only in Act III.I could even say that there are too much quests that can be taken only at certain hours, so it's difficult to play the complete game without a walkthough (so maybe, having fewer quests that trigger at certain hours would be nice). But while I'm sure about the technical details, I'm not so sure about quests that trigger only at certain hours, since they even add more depth to the game... So, I'm enjoying the game a lot, but maybe if they will realize The Witcher II, they could make some improvement on the technhical side.

I don't mind that some quests trigger at a certain time. I admit sometime I miss this certain time but Geralt always has much to do to keep himself busy until he gets the next chance. It would be a bit undemanding if everything is at any time available.@Chuckles and PlanewalkerDidn't you meet the Giant Centipedes in the Kaer Morhen Valley? ;D Okay, there isn't much to discover in the Kaer Morhen valley but I think this mod wasn't supposed to be bigger.

as far as loading time goes, emptying your savegame folder from time to time helps immensely. otherwise i like games being time consuming. compared with the price for a (maybe) equally entertaining movie ticket the game is dirt cheap as you have 100+ hours of fun with it.plus chapter 4 is a nice break from the scenery provided before. of course, if you want a game that you can play for a little in between other things, this game doesnt work. it is more of the "tonight i wont watch tv/go out/do serious work" kind of thing.
