A warning for leaks

+
@Scheuk
The news are out in the open anyway. There is a bigger chance someone will come running onto theese very forums and post all of the files in one go, unless there is a thread acknowledging their existence. As long as there is a moderator overlooking this place, it should be ok.

I had a look at those files myself, which is why i wan't to reassure people that it's not that bad.

So did I and some of the contents are answers to 90% of questions and speculations all over the internet. Also, quests and ending spoilers. And it's not only what they directly say, it's what certain elements imply in relation to gameplay and story.

Also, I don't speak polish but I expect a second wave as soon as that gets translated.

CDPR Hacked???

I read on Steam that CDPR got hacked and the endings and lots of other stuff got leacked... Is it true?

This is very sad. Especially for the devs.
I really hope we can contain it somehow.

RIP
I got exposed to what might be a major spoiler, but honestly judging by the name involved I hope it's fake (It's a pretty modern name that doesn't really fit into the Witcher universe)

But yeah this sucks

Please stop discussing the spoilers IN ANY FORM.

@501105
Guess it depends how big it gets, currently it's not up on any major websites and if they can keep it all relatively contained, then just trying to forget it will be the better option.

However if it goes crazy public, then yea, I agree with just re-enforcing that people be really aware of forums, 4chan, comment sections of articles etc.
Constant Vigilance!

I just hope CDPR doesn't do anything stupid like try to re-write parts of the Story or change parts of the game because of this. Keep your game exactly as it was, if the Gameplay is strong and Writing/Story/Characters is all impeccable, then it won't matter if a few people know (very vaguely and lacking context mind you) about the endings, it'll still be a fucking great experience and well worth the journey.

I'm refering to quests and ending in particular. There are some spoliers, but there is no reason to be afraid someone will tell you how the game ends. Unless they guess based on what's in there. But it will be just that, a guess.

As for mentions of important places and characters, including those from the books, they will probably be out there. Wich is very unfortunate. The files, are mostly various lists in Excel. They are meant to allow tracking the progress of the work being done on assets. So yes, all of that is in there. But there is little story.

Hate to say it... but someone, somewhere, on a EA office must be laughing his a$$ off... and he deserves to die.

Unfortunately enough story to spoil many sidequests and also at least one ending(I could only track down one so far, so I'm not sure if there's more).
Personally I don't mind spoilers at all, but saying "it's not that bad" may be right for people looking for entries like "x dies after y". But when someone reads it thoroughly and tracks the entries carefully, there's lots of spoilers that could ruin, not the game itself but major aspects of it for many people.

it's true but it's not that big the endings are summarized with two words. you shouldn't be exposed if you aren't acitvely looking for it so practice some self control

I was afraid of that much, time to go dark on TW3 besides here.

Before going to Steam (where I read the news) saw a post here about Yennefer and his role in the plot... I didn't even finished reading the sentence just in case... but damn that was a big spoiler... Gues it's triple work for the mods of the forum... 28 hour rounds on coffee/red bull...

On the bright side, there's also good "spoilers" concerning the technical state of the game. Some files state that most is "fully functioning" "bug free", "x has been successfully implemented", "content is still added" etc.

yeah I think I will quit posting about the all together, maybe I will forget what I read in 9 months until it releases

I'm sure they are not. I know this kind of thing can be sad to us fans but please be reasonable. I remember the entire script for Mass Effect 3 being leaked. The rest of the industry understands very well how serious theese issues can be.

@Einhaender
I think that if someone who read the books went through this stuff with the intent of finding out all they can, they porbably would be able to piece some stuff together. But i disagree that one variation of things that happen towards the end of the game is the same as spoiling the ending. There are too many permutaions, and things are too far taken out of the context. Guess i doubt that an avarage 4chan user will be able to piece it all together ;p

That sounds great, there is atleast a silver lining then.
