In theory, DisplayPort 1.2 should beat HMDI 2 especially with features like daisy chaining which aren't possible with HDMI at all. The problem however is in support. If your hardware supports DP properly - everything is fine. If it's not properly supported you'll get weird results. Lately DP support has improved quite a bit, but with older monitors it can be an issue (especially early ones which only introduced DP 1.2 for the first time).
Also, some features in HDMI 2.0 are optional (like color spaces), while DisplayPort 1.2 makes them mandatory. There is already DisplayPort 1.3 spec out, but I have no idea if hardware has caught up to it or not.
