In theory, DisplayPort 1.2 should beat HMDI 2 especially with features like daisy chaining which aren't possible with HDMI at all. The problem however is in support. If your hardware supports DP properly - everything is fine. If it's not properly supported you'll get weird results. Lately DP support has improved quite a bit, but with older monitors it can be an issue (especially early ones which only introduced DP 1.2 for the first time).

Also, some features in HDMI 2.0 are optional (like color spaces), while DisplayPort 1.2 makes them mandatory. There is already DisplayPort 1.3 spec out, but I have no idea if hardware has caught up to it or not.

My monitor should support DP just fine, but there seems to be some issues and I'm not sure if they're software or hardware related. Maybe some W10 driver related issue? I dunno.

But I can't see any difference image quality wise between DP 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 so I'll just use the latter for now.

EDIT:

Also installed some LED lights behind my monitor:

Using these:

Really liking them. Not just for cool looks but they definitely reduce eyestrain when gaming in dark environment.

Just something I thought worth sharing here.

A very useful tool for gamers who wish to preserve their color profiles during gaming. :)
