Nah. I wanna see geralt do the Bruce Lee Flying kick in the middle of a fistfight.
How else are we going to be able to get out of the way of charging monstersI want to be able to roll.
If they want they can reduce invincibility frames for rolls to make them more precise ,but I have to able to roll during combat.
I want to feel like I am actually agile and capable of fast movement. Its a fun part of combat.
I was not mocking you, I was just making a joke but now that I think it will be more natural if the fistfights are like real life boxing, don't you think?@Kinl3y @Ragnarous Okay what i was talking about the combat styles was this:
PC Gamer February 2014:
"...It's still rooted in the series' fundamental combat mechanics, but it's an area most players could agree stands to be refined. Geralt can still switch between three stances for different kinds of encounters..."
I also have vague memories of hearing the style mentioned somewhere else, but not the classic TW2 thing of strong for right click, fast for left click, i mean an actual change in the combat approach, and I recall hearing, "group style" mentioned. I wish i had that source, but as you saw @sidspyker also heard the same apparently.
That is the first that I have heard about the separate button for group style!? Definitely one of the gameplay aspects I felt that was missing from W2. Among others from W1 like alchemy and UI.Konrad Tomaskiewicz(did I get it right?) did mention it somewhere although quite casually, left click=fast, right click=strong style, and a button for group style.
Oh wow Opethian does postThat is the first that I have heard about the separate button for group style!? Definitely one of the gameplay aspects I felt that was missing from W2. Among others from W1 like alchemy and UI.
I think maybe you got confused about the posts?I was not mocking you, I was just making a joke but now that I think it will be more natural if the fistfights are like real life boxing, don't you think?
Aye, as @Kinl3y said, and strong/fast strike/swipe with a sword to me isn't a 'stance' or 'style'. I meant the strong, fast and group style of stringing attacks together as in Witcher 1. Does anyone have any official word on that because I have no source what so ever? I think it will be automatic stances depending what type of enemy and the number of them and I know I've read this somewhere. If @sidspyker is correct I guess I would call that two styles. 'Normal'/'base'/'fencing'/'parry' style( or whatever you would like to call it that consists of strong heavy attacks + light and fast attacks) and group style. I would love to see any game footage though, as would many of us I reckon. :happy:Actually styles are confirmed already. I think 2 of them plus the strong and fast ones mapped to the mouse buttons like in TW2
Fighting in Witcher 1 and 2 had rules? There was kicking to the crotch, kicking opponents lying down, pulling hair etc. And a lot of mixed variants of those grabs, punches and kicks. Continuing fight on the ground like wrestling, with leg/arm- and headlocking you mean? Interesting. Maybe opponent can tap out or somehow give up?Sticking to one style wether it's boxing or any kind of martial arts is impractical in a real fight where there are no rules. For example the stance in boxing is vulnerable to takedowns and having the fists closed all throughout the fight robs you of the opportunity to grab opponents. In real fights there are a lot of grabbing and take downs. Mixed Martial Arts is the best approach, take the best of everything and use them.
That being said I'd like to see takedowns in Witcher 3 and the fight continuing on the ground.
Yes and no, there were some things that could be described as dumbing down, but the combat was a lot more challenging in TW2. TW1 combat had some nice features, but once you worked out the rhythm it was fairly easy. If they take the best from TW1 and the best from TW2 it'll be pretty good.Sigh*
From the sounds of things and that one thread "what TW3 can learn from TW1" it looks like despite how awesome TW2 was, they really dumbed it down.
Actually having to pause the game constantly to change your stance and style in Witcher 1, got annoying pretty quickly. You were fighting a small opponent so you chose the fast style, the next opponent was big so you had to pause and change the style to strong, the next one was small you had to pause again and change to fast again and so on. I expect Geralt to automatically change his stance and fighting style to best fit the situation, so I only worry about attacking, blocking, and dodging.Sigh*
I'm ashamed to admit I've never played TW1 but that whole "stance" thing sounds bloody brilliant. I think it'll do well in witcher 3. I get the feeling the group stance thing would have been oh so effective against those annoying nekker groups in TW2.
