About Weapons Quality

I am just completed 1st map so don't know much about further game so no spoilers please.

I am just worrying about weapons quality & as weapons degrading is so fast. After just 1 or two battle against 4/5 human enemies steel sword is going below 50% & another problem is everything in this game needs money like purchase / repair / dismantle & till now money source is too low. I am at level 5 right now & I have 0 money as all my little money goes into repairing weapons & armor. Selling items is a pain too as selling cost of a particular item is too low then its buying cost.

I don't know some good news going to come for me in further game but My suggestion is at least add some source to earn money like dice poker or something like that or Armorer should repair the armor for free & Weaponsmith may repair weapons for free or just increase the durability of all weapons & armor as they are degrading so fast.

dont worry soon you will have way too much money
yes its tight at the start and yeah if you fight enemies too much higher than you it will degrade your weapons fast (cause you have to hit them so much)

best thing is all harvestable herbs in game sell for $1 each
herbalists/alchemists/non weapon/armor merchants all buy them

you can easily build up moneys for repairs selling those

also every craft/alchemy items you find, you doint need tonnes of them as each potion/oil/decotion you create only has to be created once and there are plenty of monsters to find alchemy parts and houses to raid for crafting components

youll soon figure out what you need to keep depending on your play style and what armor you wanna wear
eg im light armor, all the light armor stuff requires leather items and thing like string and twine and stuff so i keep all that stuff

also sell to the right merchant -armor to armorers
-weapons to blacksmiths (not quartermasters!! unless they also have craft ability like the guy in white orchard at nif camp)
-saddles/horse stuff to either blacksmith or armorers
-crap (like skins/fishing rods/broken oars etc) to general merchants
-food to innkeepers
-monster parts/alchemy stuff to herbalists/alchemists

reason is theres different rates for items depending on who you sell it to eg a blacksmith will pay u more for a sword than an armorer would and waaaay more than a general merchant will.

theres a couple excepts monster parts for crafting (not alchemy) yes you get more for selling to herbalists/alchemists but they tend to have way less starting money and because you will have so much alchemy items you will run them out of money fast
blacksmiths/armorers have way more money

once you start finding swords and armor that is worth enough to run blacsmiths and armorers out of money you should be at a stage where money is irrelevent

@osamaclees

Thanks buddy that's really helpful but the problem is should i sell or dismantle ? as right now most of the times I am selling weapons & dismantling armor as I compare there raw materials & found raw materials needed for making armor items are costly but as dismantling also needs a money its going hard for me as I can't keep all the stuff in my inventory due to overburden penalty & there is no storage chest :(

Yes & i am not engaging with too tough enemy. Its just when i reach velen some guards 4/5 attack me at inn & that time my steel sword really degrade so fast & I really don't want to use other steel weapon as its having good stats so repairing is must but problem is money.

yehh & I am at level 5 right now but still i can't buy dlc armor due to 0 money :(

yeah no storage sucks :(

sell i say, you find good swords and armor everywhere and crafting materials are every where

pick up all the rusty swords you find at battlegrounds too they sell for 5 bucks each and there is tonnes of them on each battlefield

ive never yet had to dismantle a weapon or armor to craft anything and im constantly selling crafting/alchemy components down to 5/10/20 or more just to get rid of the untold amounts you do find

You can help yourself a lot by not using the sword ineffectively (and avoiding hitting terrain with it too often).

If you use other methods to open their guard (counter, Igni, Aard, Axii) then you won't wear your sword as much as being continually parried.
Against shields either use strong attacks to break their stamina and force dropping, or use dodge/roll Axii or stronger variants of the combat signs to open their guard by positioning or timed effects.

Dodging, Quen and careful positioning and quick finishes help protect armour from damage. Loot the repair kits (there are more than you should ever need in the world if you look ~ I actually sold lots mid-game as they are so heavy, but I did need to buy a few in the earlier game to keep my favourites going.

Keeping swords & armour at 100% or as close to it as possible is worthwhile, it increases all damage values *and maybe affected by all multipliers*... That innocuous -18 damage from a 'decent sword' in mid game is probably worth more than 80 pts for a fairly dedicated swordsman build... or the same as a +30 attack power modifier... Use oils and enhancements as often as possible - the grinding wheels and armour tables are free to use and increase effectiveness and thus potentially reduce use and abuse.

If you have grenades, put suitable ones into your slots and use them... even if they only take a chip out of enemy health, it is a bit less wear your armour and weapons need to sustain.

(I'm now one shotting most mob enemies ~ at lvl 31, and have a reported DPS of 1850+ for silver and 1100+ for steel. With oils and weapon enhancement this is higher again... most things that survive a single hit fall to bleeding while I dodge away after a single hit or two...)

@Lieste

1st I am good at combat. Yes i am weak at counter attack & fighting more then 2 enemies in cozy & dark places like inn but over all I am good :)

I never hit my sword on terrain or on any other object. I am good at rolling & always try to flank my enemy for more damage. About signs.. I am always checking notes on enemies & their weaknesses for better damage as well I am using Axii on enemy with shield & then strong attack to finish them faster as I think these all are common strategies for combat but still I found weapons are degrading pretty fast as after all its a metal.

Armor degradation is acceptable as its a everyday use & you are fighting / rolling / swimming so its ok with armor but I strongly feels its too fast for weapons.

Thanks for your reply :)
