[ACT I] A bug with the candles

*Sigh* I guess not even the Extended Edition is without bugs. :-\ I've just found a serious one: the Reverend gave me the quest to light the candles at the shrines, but no candles appeared in my quest inventory. I can talk to the Reverend and get him to remind me about the quest, but he still won't give me any candles. And yes, I've checked everything. This never happened to me prior to v1.4. I have no saved games before talking to the Reverend and getting the quest, so it seems I'll have to start over. :dead: But who can guarantee that the bug won't occur again?

I got the candles with no problem, so this doesn't happen every time.Um, you do know that your quest inventory is separate from your regular inventory, don't you?

I know, this is my fourth time through the game. In my quest inventory there are only the warrant poster for the Professor and a couple of poker dice. No candles even in my regular inventory. The bug has put me off the game for a while, so I'm going to start over maybe next week, unless I find a solution to this bug. Next time I'll save my game right before the Reverend gives me that quest. By the way, does anyone know of a savegame editor, the kind that allows me to add items to my inventory? Or maybe a modification to a merchant, so that he sells those candles...

Thanks, I tried it and it works. :) The problem is no more, and I can continue with my game. Still, this serious bug shouldn't be happening in a game version that is supposed to be "bug-free".

I did that quest yesterday. All the candles were there. Not a bug as far as I can tell.~ Roxy

I just ran into this bug myself in the Enhanced version. I had no problem talking to the Reverend but he wouldn't give me any candles. Luckily the save game editor (linked above) worked perfectly and I was able to add them to my inventory and finish the quest as normal. Thanks for posting it and thanks to the person that made it. I am really enjoying the game and it would have sucked to have to start over.

One thing that occurs to me due to this quote is that you seem to have done the Racists quest and helped Zoltan before speaking to the Reverend. I have always spoken to the Reverend before helping Zoltan and never run into this bug. It should be tested by saving before that point and trying it both ways. That may yield some answers.

Good guess. In my previous three playthroughs, I always spoke with the Reverend before helping Zoltan. Maybe the script related to his quest is messed up or something.

I usually do racists before talking to the reverend and never had any problems.

I did the Racists quest before I talked to him and I ended up getting bugged so you might be right about that causing problems. I also have 4 dice boxes in my quest inventory from the Racists. Is that normal?

That's normal if you picked up all of them from the bodies, although you'll need only one. The rest of them will stay with you until the end of the game...

Racists is usually one of the very first quests i complete, so i can confirm that doing it before talking to the reverend is not a problem :peace:

Same here. Helped Zoltan before even approaching the Reverend. No problems here.Seems EE is throwing a lot of random bugs. Hmmm. The pre-EE game was much more refined (except the English script of course).
