[ACT I] Beggar who wants booze

Sorry if this has been asked before but...There is a beggar in the fisherman's village who wants booze. Any idea what type he actually wants? Anything I give him either results in a rejection or him calling me a whimp! And what does he give in return if you give the right booze?

do you mean near Haren Brogg's place in the Outskirts ? If so, i don't think anyone has posted an answer (personally i gave up trying to find something he would drink) ... my only suggestion would be to stock up on all different kinds of drink and then save just before talking to him ... it's long and tedious, but you should be able to figure it out -- I can assure you that it is absolutely not a crucial part of the game plotdo post your answer if you find one! i'll add it to the wiki :)

I didn't even know there was this drinking beggar! :DIt should be something you can get in Act I though, so the choices narrow quite a bit. Just buy 1 each from Vesna's collection of drinks. You can also try white gull.

He drinks no beer that's what I found out so far. I didn't offer him stronger alcohol because my poor and broke Geralt needs all those alcohol for brewing potions in Act. 1

I do believe I tried White Gull on him once. So strike that off the list ;)

That particular lice-ridden bastard only accepts strong drink and accuses you of being a pussy if you give it to him. I think the dialogue option for him was something like "Shove off!", which is what I told him.

Wine's out, and so is Temerian rye. So I've given up on the old SOB. Hasn't he ever heard that beggars can't be choosers?

I tried all alcohols available in Act I. No go.An empty hole he is.If you meet him, choose the option "Piss Off, Old Man".

That was my take on the matter, and I was afraid I might be missing something by letting my temper get the better of me. I'm glad to hear that I missed nothing important by telling him that if he wouldn't take what I gave him, he could drink nothing at all. (No, that's not a dialogue option -- I confess that I sometimes speak aloud while playing the game. I've also been heard to tell Geralt, "Aw, you're just showing off" or "God, you're a one-man army," or "You're good, babe, you're really good!" The men in white coats will be coming for me any day now, I'm sure. :) )

The obvious choice would be the Temerian Rye--Drunkards call this their daily bread. But, no go. Someone said they tried all the alcohol available at the time--no go. I tried water--no go. White Gull--no go. Maybe juices or milks? At this point I'd just tell him piss off

And anybody tried to give him a drink at the beginning of chapter. Maybe he will tell something, that otherwise we already know? Though I doubt that

Hi Guys,Just another “Noob” question. I have tried searching for this and couldn't find an answer, no help with the manual either :( I've just entered the “Outskirts” for Act I. After “dispatching” the ruffians that were harassing Zoltan I saw a drunk beggar. He wanted some booze and whenever I tried to give him some beer (hopefully to get something useful in return) I couldn't :( He kept saying something to the affect of “that wasn't I good gesture,” something like that anyway. Could it be that he didn't want beer? I'm thinking I wasn't doing it right. For the life of me, I can't remember how I gave Triss the potion in the Prologue. Could someone tell me how to give a gift? Thank you in advance for any info provided :)Ciao,“Q”

when you can give smth to smne, an icon "gift" appears in the dialogue box.don`t know if anyone solved what to give to him, for me it was rather useless.(i think he might be interested in a white gull potion) however there are npcs who will reveal to you some valuable general herbs&monsters knowledge. i mean old ladies and peasants mostly.

Thanks Cinarea :)I know what you mean. I tried a lot of booze and he didn't like any of it :( I'm certainly not giving him my White Gull. I'm also hitting up all the "Peasant Women" for general herbs&monsters knowledge. One wants "pork," she didn't like my ham sandwich "wasn't starving just wanted some pork." ;) You don't know were I can find some pork by any chance? Thanks again,"Q"
