[ACT I] Blackscreen at the end

HI all,I got a problem. After i met Shani in the Guesthouse, i got to walk with her to Mikul, which was standing at the Gate at the Mill. Then there comes the Film with the "Lord" ( dunno how to call him :p), but thats all. After the sequence i got a Blackscreen and can't do anything. But the strange thing about it is, that the game itself keeps on running. I can hear when it's raining, hear the steps of the guys that are walking around and can hear Shani keeps on telling me, that i have to talk to Mikul, getting into Wizima. But as i said, i get a Blackscreen and can't do anything more... And by the way... Up to that point this game really makes fun and had no Bugs... up to now...Hope u can help me. I want to keep on playing that Game 8)#greetzPS: i'm playing with Patch 1.2. Also tried to play with 1.0 but didn't work either.

Just don't use the Savegames being created in the Demo Version. Delete these Savegames and start a new Game. That's all. Worked quite well for me.greetzbtw.: Cloud-Strife u got an pm ;)

I have the same problem... and it's exactly what I thought ! I played the demo first... I found the game so cool that I bought it and continued with a saved game from the demo.Isn't there any way to 'transform' a saved game from the demo to a 'normal' one ? Please !!! I do not want to restart from the beginning !! (And will post this in the tech forum too !)

I too have the same problem, but will hopefully wait for a fix because I do not want to start over from the beginning. Taken too much time and aggravation to get to this point. I will shelf this game with my other dogs if I unable to continue with it. I found a fix posted by another user Loafster loef0melifes0@yahoo.com who posted download links for Act 1 saves and End of Act 1 save. How to use them: 1: after extracting them to a seperate folder, look and see what the save number is before you copy these into your default witcher save folder, rename the existing save file in this folder. 2: copy the save files to the default witcher save folder and note its number. 3: when you load witcher and select load file, pick the new save you just copied to the save folder. It may not appear in the list of your saves as the newest save! i.e. it may or may not be at the top of the list, look for it. 4: load the save file and if you selected The End of Act 1 save, you will have killed the beast. 5: next go to the inn to meet Shani, then do what she says as the story line goes. After doing this, I was able to continue with the game at the point of meeting Mikul and entering Vizima. And so far, I have not had any problems with the game, good luck.p.s. it works for Vista or XP, I am using Vista and wasn't sure because it isn't noted by the original poster.

maybe if you had the demo, and saved games, that might be the problem. Deleting those games or uninstalling the demo if you haven't yet
