[ACT I] Burden in the Cave

How do you get poison resistance. I keep on getting killed in a cave trying to find the friend?

Do you mean the quest of the merchant Leuvaarden? The Echinopse in the cave are pretty nasty. Actually you can't become completely immun to poison but you can prepare Bindweed which gives more protection... though I doubt you will find Vermilion in the Outskirts :hmmm:Echinops are susceptible to fire, so you can use a torch or Igni against them or use strong fighting style with your sword. You can use a whetstone as blade enhanement. Try to kill them one by one. As soon as you see the friend's remains as loot, grab it and get out of the cave. Echinopse spawn again and again.

Afaik Echinopsae don't usually poison you (they never managed to poison me anyway).Using a torch is most effective or just strong steel (you need to chain very quickly, usually you can click before an animation is done).Drink a swallow before going in to keep you alive.

Even if they don't poison Geralt, they spit some kind of thorn... which hurt ;D

When are you doing this one? It's fairly tough, so I usually do it towards the end of the act, not towards the beginning. If you're doing it towards the beginning, you might want to find some easier monsters to kill and come back later, once you've leveled up a few times.

I usually do this fairly early in the act precisely because the experience reward for the echinopsae is larger in the beginning.Useful talents:- Position (from strength, parry +10%)- Repel (from dexterity, parry +10%)- Deflect Arrows (from dexterity), but not necessary- Poison Resistance (from stamina), but not necessarylHaving just Strength and Dexterity both at level two main and the parry talents is usually enough, then taking a torch and killing the echinopsae one by one. You don't usually need a swallow until after the third echinops. The nasty part is that the Sated Echinops pops up simultaneosuly with one other, so using the torch to get incineration going on the first, then retreating behind the stalagmites and repeating as necessary is a good idea. Pay attention to where the echinopsae erupt, because fighting more than one at a time is not a good idea. You do need the parry skills because otherwise you'll get chewed up good. Be sure to also have bribed the old women with food to get the echinops monster entry before you go into the cave. Never too early to start collecting echinops rootstocks.

Almost impossible to actually get as far as the cave without ending up at level 6 by the time you go in. Too much easy exp lying around in the form of quests and small monsters.

The echinopse cave is one of my last missions in the Outskirts. If this wasn't thrilling enough ;D I dare an other visit for the sake of exp. Luckily there is a fireplace outside to recover from the fights.

I usually drink a cat potion too going into that cave. Some parts of the cave are pitch black and you can't see your enemy, unless your using the torch of course. On the other hand, I never used the torch in battle and didn't know it was even effective as a weapon.
