[Act II] Dealing with dozen of Salamaders...

In Act II,after I killed Ramsmeat,I have to deal with dozens of Salamanders and don´t know if its supply is ilimited.Even using the Group style and Steel, there´re too many of them that it is easy to be killed.I have a oil to coat my sword "Bear Fat",but it didn´t work.Should I use Blizzard or Swallow?Or should simply get out of there?I don´t know if the exit door is locked...

You can use Igni on them, humans and humanoid races are susceptible to fire.I don't understand what you used to coat your blade. Bear fat is a blade coating bases to create an oil which you apply on your sword.

Salamanders tend to surround you, but then so does everything else in this game... :D What you need is to allow that and slice & dice them from the center to inflict maximum group damage. Then you can do somersaults to escape and use Igni or Aard to burn or do a fatality kill on 1 or 2 of 'em. Remember to use potions... and hopefully you upgraded group style. Also, Bear Fat is top quality base for blade coatings... you need to meditate and prepare oils using it just like you do with potions. Hope you manage... :peace:

I never used blizzard. I'd rather to use shrike, wolf or thunderbolt. As 56236 said before, i suggest to use aard too. Once you have disarmed, knocked down or stunned some guys you finish them in one hit. If your regeneration of the sign power is too slow use tawny owl.

56236 also makes a good point about getting right into the middle of a large group ... you get way more of them out of your way that way. :peace:

Yes, Aard is a very good idea as. A stunned opponent gives Geralt a chance to finish him off. After that you should contentedly see sth like what's in the screen here

You know, that is a good strategy up until the point where you install the FCR mod, because then you're dealt a couple of times more damage when hit from behind.Otherwise, it works like a charm. Of course, after you become skilled in fighting with Geralt, not even FCR will cause you any trouble, but one must experiment. :peace:

After you stun an opponent with Aard or a strong slash, you can do a fatality move. Maybe everyone should try doing it with different weapons, since I was surprised of the result with the daggers. :peace:

Try to make sure u kill ramsmeat b4 the rest enter. Its easier. Then just use the aard sign and group steel.Run from 1 end of the house to the other if the start to overwhelm you.I only used tawny owl and a whetstone.

I only used... well,... nothing. And that's on FCR here. The pointers are all you need to survive. Although, the running isn't really necessary for un-modded play. :peace:

As you've probably figured out by now you can't use doors while in combat to answer that question. If you still haven't beaten Rams and his goons try using a combination of Tawny Owl/Swallow(Rubedo)/Thunderbolt pots, Hanged Man's Venom coating, and for a nice distraction Zerrikanian Sun.If you don't know or have the recipe here it is for the Sun:Aether/Hydragenum/Quebrith/Vermillion with the four slot base. A high skill lvl in steel group style wouldn't hurt either as earlier stated. For Signs, I upgraded Quen up high and it seemed pretty effective to me. If this helps you then cool and glad to be of help ;DIf not, then I hope someone who's reading this thread who has a similar problem benefits from this info :peace:

Hmm. Sounds like an interesting fight.I've never killed Ramsmeat before .. might have to try it now.Although, tawny owl + petri philter + ritual of magic + signs ought to make short work of them.

Hmmm... I never thought people never thought of killing Rammsmeat. He seems like a good criminal in a bad sort of way, but the decision is not that consequential.I guess any strategy is good, but I still can't believe how many items people waste on simple fights. BTW - Petris Philter? I've never even used that one. :DYou have to try everything says I... so go for Rammsmeat and I'll go for the Philter, ok? Anyways, hope everyone has fun. :peace:

I just tried the philter. What a boring formula... I can't even put it to good use.I guess I prefer "hand-to-hand" combat. But hey, maybe this could help against boss monsters for a fatality kill with Aard. And, it is not a cheap cop-out or shortcut... so I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.I once tried a game to just use spells and still didn't use Petri's Philter for anything. I guess I'm conservative of my top bases... :D

You can turn any strong alcohol into White Gull, which is the best base there is, so there's no need to conserve your "top" bases, though you may need to conserve strong alcohol in general at some points in the game, depending on what you've bought and found.

I know that, but I still get the feeling that I might need it (whatever "it" might be) sometime in the future.I always get these feelings even in real life... so, I guess I'm just the conservative type of person. ;)Now, about Petri's Philter... I had to spend over 4G's of orens just to use it to the max when I needed it... what a waste. Like I had anything better to do with 'em, but anyways, it doesn't matter since the old save with Signs alone completely bores me now. It's just one of those potions you want to try against a boss or something... otherwise, it's not really worth it in my opinion. :peace:

Well, I use maybe 4 swallows the whole game, 'cos I prever overkill before my foes get a chance to attack. ;DBut to each his/her own, I guess.

Nowadays, so do I, I guess. Every time a start a new game, I get hooked on creating potions which I know I won't even use.For me it's just fun to see how much I can do... and, better safe than sorry, so one must always be prepared. :peace:

Yeah well, my Geralt is a potion addict. All in the pursuit of overwhelming offense. The potions I use the most of are: Tawny Owl/Albedo, Thunderbolt, Petri Philter, and Cat.In numbers of ... hundreds, dozens, dozens, whenever required.I know I'd also use oils if they stacked with generic buffs (from diamond dust, etc), but as things go, I just end up buying a pile of those runestones (Vodon, Svarog, Perun) ...Perun in particular is really silly ... +60% hitroll is ridiculous .. if you have dex 4 and feint, you can hit anything with strong styles.Especially with the +30% precise hit .. makes act 5 hilarious.See, I don't use potions like White Raffard's Decoction, or Willow, etc.'cos they assume I get hurt, and offence > defence.I don't use Blizzard, either ... 'cos it stuffs up my timing.

If offence is what you're after... I suggest trying to mix potions with Nigredo instead of Albedo, unless you plan to stuff yourself with a lot of 'em... :DBlizzard I also never use, just sometimes for the sake of a screenshot, but that's it. :peace:
