Yes. Once you've progressed far enough in the quest, there is no one who will buy Salamander badges off you. You can pave the street with them, or punch holes into them and use them as buttons, but once you've dealt with Leuvaarden they're basically worthless.

Sorry for bumping a old post but that SUCKS!I wish you got some kind of warning because I could use the extra money to get the new armor.

I think it's amazing that you can sell any of them to begin with, since they're not actually worth anything. Leuvarden buys them to encourage the slaying of Salamanders, but it's not like Geralt needs any encouragement to kill Salamanders.

Can someone please explain what the deal is with the messenger guy in the inn? I met him one night and had a short chat but avoided threatening him so as not to p*ss him off and avoided the salamander question. Then I thought that perhaps having a drinking contest with him might help me get somewhere. At the conclusion of the drinkathon he refused to talk about Salamandra (the 100 oren line of the dialog) and told me to b*gger off or something similar. Since then I haven't seen him since in the Inn. Will he come back? Is there a time he appears? If I've screwed that part up, will Leuvarden still buy my badges? Rather not be carrying the damn things for the sake of it.

did he tell you he worked for leuvaarden ? if so, that's all you really needed him for. If not, then you may have a problem.to sell him badges, you have to click on the drink icon, but then say some other time and talk to him again, then you can sell him badges.I don't honestly know if he comes back or not ..I've always gotten the information i needed from him, even if i only recently got to sell him any badges.also, other than him and leuvaarden, no one will buy those, so don't stock up :)

I think he told me his employer, just no more. But the badge issue never came up. I'll maybe need to spend a whole evening in the inn rather than stop off before going somewhere else to kill things. But I'm not convinced I'll see him again. :-\ Oh well, I'll go and seek consolation in the arms of lady of illrepute in the area. Geralt gets a little lonely come the wee hours of the morning.

Once he tells you who his employer is that is it. And he shows up at about dusk.

Leuvaarden is not buying any of my spare badges after I passed him the 3 for the quest

that's completely normal, he only does buy the three of them. the only person who buys more is the messenger who told you about him in the first place, but i think you get that one chance.the badges are completely useless to you know that you've sold 3 to Leuvaarden. You might as well leave them in storage or drop them altogether :peace:

My first time around I had never threatened Luevardans' lackey at the hairy bear and hadn't learned of the conection yet. Also hadn't gone to the dike yet so, I just kept going to the Hairy Bear Inn and selling him the useless things up until I needed to advance the quest line. This was pure coincedence and luck seems how I'd never read any of the forums at this point.

what for?
afaik one can sell salamandra medallions once in a game - to Leuvaarden, and that is his secret, so we have to inquirel it before we can sell it to him

so that is a second time you meet salamandra around raymond...it really puzzles me..first time about 6-8 salamandra attacks geralt in front of raymonds house, the nex time is inside raymonds` house, thats when after he goes into hiding.it`s about 12 salamandra. so faranother quest its protecting the prostitutes - around 10 salamandra killed then - random night attacks, mostly in the human quarter.have you already looted corpses near clay pits in the swamps? there are 2 salamandra carcasses, afaik.it`s really puzzling not to find at least 3 brooches after killing at least 20 salamandra thugs...

you're certainly not screwed ... just keep killing those nasty salamanders and you are bound to get some badges ... you really only need three, ever (any more are gravy) :peace:

The Thugs in Little Mahakam (the non-human district) spawn rather randomly, mostly between 9 pm and 2 am, in your first night there, you might encounter four of them, but in subsequent night, the rate may drop, sometimes, you will have absolutly no encounter, sometimes you will meet fleders istead of thugs. As I experienced, beside the quest for Carmen ("Working girls"), you have a maxium of six encounters per night, two of them in this case beeing fleders (most appear in the hospitals garden, some near the Hairy Bear, rarely in Little Mahakam, at both ends of the main street, more likely in the litte corner near the little gate there). The relation of slamandra to thugs seems to be set at one slamandra to three normal thugs, but I can't say that for sure. If you don't get enough badges on quest or the previous encounters, you will have to try in coming nights. Best guess to get them would be starting patroling Little Mahakam at 8:30 pm, once you have encoutered a thug, loot him, run directly to Thaler (cross the garden and take down the fleder if one spawns), sell what you don't need and head back. If you haven't got badges try the next night - you can still use the remaining night time to poker with Thaler and make some money.

Looks like 'my' Thaler has crooked dice: at home, I have 5 dice. When I go playing dice poker with Thaler, I notice how many dice he throws, and his results. Then I take the same number of dice, and throw them myself (the real ones). And I never manage to get any of his 'miraculous' drops, like 5-of-a-kind exactly when I have 4-of-a-kind or something. Lokks like good/bad luck applies only for my thows, while Thaler's have a 'higher connection' with the..top floor ;D

It was said in another thred here somewhere, that it looks like the game decides before the first dice are rolled who will win the game. This seems quite reasonable, as you might find out, if you play enough games in a row, that you can even destory your own good rolls sometimes and still win, sometimes with even better dice than before. Best tip for poker is to save before you start playing, and writing down how many oren you have. Check this number after each game, prepare to reload, if you fear to loose to much to continue the game, and stop, if you reached the amount you want to win (when playing only for xp/dice poker quest, this would be a litlle win or even a little loss). If you loose several games to Thaler, you might have a winning streak and can cash in big time. And I mean realy big time! My personal record for a dice poker session was a win of roughly 13.000 oren!

At this point, I (and an army of people before me) would really love to know if the Dice Poker is crooked or not. Just for the 'truth sake' ;D

looks like i didn't need them. i continued with the main quest with out giving him 3 somehow. i even was able to go back to him and prove his innocence. fun game but easy to get sidetracked. when do you get access to the bounty hunter again so i can turn in trophies? i have the head from act 1 and i am in act 2 i dont know how to get out and get back to the guy. i had to leave the plant monsters head in the swamp because i can only hold one trophy.
