[ACT II] How to get past dike gates

Alright, I've been going around in circles trying to advance the plot. I haven't been able to get past the dike gate. I didn't help Siegfred in the sewers, so he was in front of the hospital. I've talked to all the suspects, except Lauvarden, numerous times, Raymond has gone to hiding. Nothing is advancing. I finally tried to bribe the guards at the gate, and that worked. But there must be some other way to get past that gate.Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Have you managed to clear Vincent? I don't know if that would work (I've always let Siegfreid help), but I think it would, as it helps you get into the hospital. Cos bribing works at the hospital as well, or you clear Vincent and he helps you out with a little prezzie Hope that helps

Yah I think your stuck with having to bribe since you didn't join Sigfreid in the sewers until you clear Vincent -- I beleive he gives you a ring to show guards at this point.

I haven't been able to clear anyone yet. Everyone I talk to ends up with 'don't have enough evidence yet'.

I think to obtain hard evidence to clear anyone you need to go into the cemetary crypt and see what awaits you Hopefully you didn't piss off Vincent and/or Thaler or you won't get cemetary key

I think that's what I did. For most everybody, I think I covered all possible conversation choices, polite and impolite.Maybe, I'll start Act 2 over again.

One of the things is that if you sold Haren's goods to te Scoiatael in Act 1, you need to clear Vincent (and under no circumstances should you piss him off) before you go to see Raymond or you're going to be up shit creek without a paddle. Elsewise you need to help Siegfried in the sewers.

You can clear Thaler and get into the cemetery if you speak to Shani and go through enough of the quest. Can't remember what stage it's at, but she'll tell you something that will clear Thaler, and he'll clear the gravedigger's debts and let you into the cemetery

yes, she tells Geralt lots of stuff if he makes it through the party and goes to apologise afterwards

Wouldn't the City Guard ring help?I am not exactly sure, since I have never been in this situation...One can either get it from Vincent or a special person, mentioned in a book of Thalers

I believe Thaler's book lets you aquire a different ring that helps you elsewhere.

After outdrinking Thaler he gives you a book which you, in turn, give to Bootblack. Bootblack gives you St. Lebioda's ring, which allows you easy access past Shani's gramma.

Vincent is pretty easy to clear, though. Off the top of my head...

Meeting Vincent at the warehouse at midnight and speaking to Coleman on the dike after complete "The Rat" should do it. And to be safe, don't turn Coleman in to the innkeeper.

Not 100% sure though - I'd have to replay that particular part of the game to confirm.

I haven't been able to clear Vincent. That seems hung up. Maybe, I'll try to talk to Shani some more. I haven't tried drinking with Thaler yet. I'll try that to.I met with Vincent at the warehouse. Coleman's

if coleman is dead, i dont think you can clear vincent before the autopsy. but you dont need this to enter the dike, just bribe the guards.the story needs you to go to the swamp to collect herbs for shani before she performs the autopsy (that clears vincent) so you will get to the swamp.

On my first couple of plays through the game i didn't really bribe anyone ... unless there really seemed to be no other option ... so it did take me quite a while to actually get to the swamp, but don't worry ... there is always more than one way to skin a cat eace:
