[ACT II] Tip for Coccacidium and Wyverns (spoilers)

+
Well now that I am home from work, I am determined to kill that damned plant! :dead: It's a real pain trying to get to the tower with that thing popping up all over, along with the drowned dead, etc.I have Igni II maxed out with all abilities, and my last level gain I got my first Silver talent point.

??????????DID YOU????????????REALLY?????????????YOU'R MY GODDESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The way I take all of those plants out is agro it then get just out of its range and use the long range igni, normaly only takes 2 hits that way. also you can stay in range of it if you have deflect arrow.

does Gramps ever get killed by anything? Or is Geralt able to keep the aggro of everything hostile? I'm wodering if I should go kill the damn plant and THEN go back for gramps.

I kiled it when i first entered the swamp too. This play through (remembering the battle I had last time!) I tried to run past it so I could fight it later and it just kept popping up everywhere, so I reloaded and killed it where it first popped up!I've found that the most reliable place to find it when you FIRST enter the swamp is to get the escort quest from Gramps straight away, don't go to the brickmakers village but instead walk around past the claypits and on the path to the shrine/chapel. It always appears without fail about 50m down the path from the claypits, on a little clear patch next to the path. Knowing that allowed me to prepare myself when I went through second time.I used Swallow and Blizzard, Igni first then Aard, then went hacking at it with silver strong style. This damn plant really p*ssed me off - it killed my little curious dog

I killed Coccacidium (I checked the name ;D )the first time Geralt entered the swamp just to avoid that it shows up in an inoportune moment. I did some necessary quests in the temple distrct to get 1 or 2 levels and then ventured out for the nasty plant.@AnamachaCoccacidium is a boss plant and an archespore, advanced species of echinopse. It takes longer to kill Cocca, so don't worry ;)
May i ask how you did it,because that was quite hard ( for me at least). And did that Coccacidium randomly popped out at most bad moment? :)
Sorry it seems there is a missunderstanding ;D I didn't mean I killed the Cocca with the first blow or first attack, see here . I meant on the first occasion when Geralt went to swamp he did Cocca. I remembered from my first gameplay where it spawned the first time so I took that path, didn't talk to anybody, didn't talk to Gramp to get a quest. I lurked Drowners and Bloedzuigers out of the radius and killed them, so there was no disturbance and then started with Cocca as mentioned in my previous post.Acurally I didn't very similar as HappyHannah did it.

I managed to kill it last night, just took a few tries. However, there was another like it that popped up outside of Gramps' cabin in the middle of a group of Echi's (can't remember how to spell that). I avoided them, there were too many.

somewhere in thisd thread another person mentioned that they were avoiding the plant's missiles by using the Avoid Missiles bronze talent. I checked my Dex tree last night and I already have that, but I'm still getting his all the time by the plan'ts missiles. Argh!

Anyway you can use quen to avoid any attack. The most efficient weapon again cocca is torch and igni as well as for echinopse. Do use them (silver is almost useless and too slow :-\)

No risk no fun ;D You will see later when Geralt has a higher level you only use silver sword for Archespores (and much later in Act 4 Giant centipedes)... begin with a burning Igni blast as a warm welcome and then slay it 8)Avoid missiles is not the ultimate protection. Geralt is able to avoid missiles when he directly faces them. When it's kind of an ambush he can't avoid them. I'm not sure about avoiding missiles when he is in combat.

When he is in combat and directly facing the enemy, both moving and staying put,he dodges by moving his upper body(i hope i spelled it right)and parrying almost anything that enemy throws. So when i was killing cocca 4th time (experiment ;D),only a thew arrows came threw.

I ran into the damn thing last night, right outside the cave where I got Quen, and I'll be damned if I didn't kill the thing! It went down surprisingly easy -- I hit it with two or three close-range Igni blasts, and I was lucky enough to get 'Incinerate' on at least two of those hits. Woot!

I don't like these plants. I don't get a healthbar for them and couldn't figure out what attacking style to use. Does anybdoy know exactly what style/weapon is best for them? On strong style Geralt sometime jumps out of range and i can't get the last combo.I killed the boss plant with igni fireballs from distance. I was far enough so it couldn't throw spores, but that seems like exploiting/cheating to me.

I run right up on them and start with a blast of igni, silver fast style, then switch to strong style to finish. I do this for any creature that gives me the problem you described when starting on strong style.

well, the plant I managed to kill was evidently not the Cocca, because it just popped up again as I was trying to escort Gramps to his destination. It kicked my ass several times -- it gets me down so fast! I tried popping Swallow, Tawny Owl and Bindweed -- none of it seemed to help. I managed to hit it with Igni a couple of times, but it killed me before I got it.Any other hints? Anyone?

Swallow and Tawny Owl are good choices, but also visit a Place of Power and do the Magic Ritual to boost your sign intensity before taking on this plant. Just use Igni. Run up to it, blast it, then run out of its reach (but not so far that it goes back into the ground). Rest a bit then repeat the above. With patience, you'll kill it.
