There are many different ways to skin this cat, but this is one that works for me. I pull them one at a time and don't have a problem.Inch forward until the closest one "discovers" you.Walk backward to pull.When safe (in otherwords, when no others will follow), blast with Igni.Back up a bit more to regen Endurance, blast with Igni again.Close with Silver sword (can't remember if I used Strong or Fast), and finish off.This assumes that you have Igni spec'ed out through at least Level II.If you walk close to the center of the island, IIRC, two Wyvern will drop from the sky at the same time. You should still be able to use the above tactics as long as you cast Igni when they are both close together. You may have to slash the lead Wyvern once or twice until the second one catches up with it.Good luck! 
got another tactic very simple and extremally efficient. put some ornitosmth. oil on your runic silver sword, drink swallow, blizzard, wolf potions, make a savegame (tip: probably you are going to need it) make some deep breaths irl while the game is saving. after you saved succesfully, just go ahead and feel that you are this legendary berserk witcher, use only group style, jump in the middle of those stupid monsters and kill them all with a combo. try it, it worked for me. and here you need a savegame... now you can do it multiple times ... and it is fun.
What I did was to draw two or three at a time... If more followed, I'd move away, while setting off igni and wait for them to come at me again and spread out to attack. I'd move to one, hit it until it gets too crowded again and then move away again... I only needed to use swallow...
I just completed this battle in my second playthrough, on hard difficulty. I didn't have the formula for the appropriate oil, so it made the fight that much more difficult. In the end, my potions were:Tawny Owl (Dominant Albeldo, take first)Petri's PhilterSwallow (Dominant Nigredo)Golden Oriole (Dominant Rubedo)I didn't take blizzard, because my experience is that it makes it nearly impossible to dodge in OTS mode. I also had the ritual of magic active, and a savrog rune stone on my sword.My tactics were: Stay in fast silver mode, dodge like mad, and keep spamming igni. Every now and then, when I was able to get 1 on 1 with a wyvern I would change to strong silver and give it a good pasting. Eventually I was able to take them all down and get Moa's head (I had taken Harvall in the previous chapter, when there were no Royal Wyverns around). The really funny thing was that I was conducting this fight at about dusk, and halfway through it became night and an Archeospore, Echinops, several drowned dead and some of those slug like things spawned and started attacking both me and the wyverns. It certainly made things interesting!
Just pull em one at a time or get a big train of drowners and run over to them, wyverns and drowners will atk each other and you can usually pick off a couple wyverns before the drowners die. If you just pull 1 at a time you really don't need potions imo, but if it's still difficult take a willow (their knock down skill can be annoying) and swallow.
I killed all the royal wyverns without any problem and then the two little bastard wyverns dropped out of the sky right on top of me and killed me in 15 seconds.Do the wyverns stop spawning on max difficulty ? Or do they stop once you kill mama wyvern ?I used igni and strong silver, worked very well. Didn't even use potions.
Are yo sure you better use the silver sword for Wyverns ? They say that it's a natural animal and not a monster in the manual , so i always used a steel sword in fast style to kill them . maybe i'm wrong , but i thought it was like wolves . power up aard works well when you are good at aardnunokas said:i recommend igni at a safe distance to lure one or two. engage with a passionable fast silver style on the little ones, royal ones like it to ;D but the mother chiken (trophy) needs a strong beat to lose her head
With the Royal Wyverns I set a trap using Yarden at High levels and then pulled one at a timeuntil I had 3 pieces of Wyvern meat and the Moa trophy.For Potions I used.PetriSwallowRaffords....Argetina blade coating.I love Yarden...very fun spell. Cant wait to use Circle of Death.....-M
I wonder why wyverns are so tough compared crappy EXP points, Basilisks are easier and you gain over 1400 EXP points per basiliskAnd yes one by one tactic, anti venom drink and use FAST style + silver sword, there are more of these in Murky water fields and black tern island.
With the ranged igni (if you have it), you can usually draw one at a time. This is doable with fast silver (ornithosaur oil if you have it). If two come, place an yrden trap between you and them, that usually scares off one of them so it's still one on one. If you draw three, run like hell. They do not follow you very far from the island, just make sure not to get surrounded.
Cleared the island for a couple of hours ago. The trick is to take the wyverns one by one. Sometimes two, but not more. If you are surrounded by the royal wyverns then you turned up dead. I used the igni sign (i think that's the one with the spikes trap) and strong silver. Be aware of some other enemies that will pop up, like drowned dead, bloedzuiger and archespore.That female royal wyvern, from which you can obtain the head for a trophy, isn't difficult.
