Activation Code Exceeded Limit?

I am having to reinstall The Witcher on my computer, I've gotten to the part where I have to put my activation code in and I get a message to contact technical support as the activation code has exceeded it's limit. Anyone direct me to where I need to go to get help with this?ThanksPS....Vista SP1 killed my computer.

Im having the same problem only I purchased my copy from Digital River and have contacted support twice now and have yet to hear anything from them. Does anyone have any tips at this point? Its sad that piracy is such a huge problem and now the copyright protection procedures are screwing the paying customers.

I would guess you need to go to technical support as listed in the message - contact details should be in the email you got with the activation details in the first place.

This seems to be going around as of late. If you have a Digital Download copy that is not from Atari, then you need to go to the company you purchased it from and contact them for assistance. It's out of the hands of Atari and CDProjekt as the software is specially designed for the Digital Download platform you used.

I have the same problem and can no longer play the game. I purchased it through atari's website, but their partner is Digital River. I contacted Atari twice and both times was told they couldn't help me and to contact digital river. I contacted digital river 5 times or so and was told 3 times to contact atari they couldn't help me. Twice they gave me the original codes I already had which did me no good. I contacted the support directly affiliated with the atari shop now and they said they couldn't help me to contact digital river. I'm at a loss and I really can't fix the problem. I am now thinking of trying to find a crack for this legally purchased game. Unfortunately I've not seen any that will work without downloading the entire game. Perhaps thats what I'll have to do next. I have a legal right to play this game and I can't. I reinstall stuff all the time usually do to upgrades or fatal windows crashes. I have the purchase information and everything no one wants to help. Its very frustrating. I won't buy online from them again thats for sure. Be warned. stick with steam.

I waited a year to play this game and was able to play through the first two parts only to run into technical problems and decided to wait until the patches were released hopefully addressing those performance problems since the game seemed pretty unfinished. Now the patches are released, I cant even install the game because nobody will provide customer service for my purchase. Ive contacted Digital River two more times since my post above and still have yet to even get an automated response from their support system.Good riddance.

There's really nothing that CDProjekt can do about the activation code limit. They created the product and then with digital download, different companies have their own scheme for copyright and activation. It is completely out of CDPR's hands as to how a digital download company does their system as it's just another way of distribution, no different than Atari putting copy protection on CDs sold at retail channels. If there's an issue with the CD copy protection, you go to Atari. And same holds true for digital downloads. One of the issues people are going to run in to with a digital download, and need to understand, is the game is modified. Because of this fact, patches need to be created by the company to take this into account and while The Witcher has universal patches, there's a chance the latest one may not have worked with the system digital downloads have. But that is not the fault of CDPR, but the copyright/activation systems of the digital company. While it is unfortunate that the game isn't working from digital download, the only alternatives are to continue contacting the company, or buying a copy at a store. I'd personally keep trying to get a response from the company.

Well for what its worth I understand that CDProjekt cant really do anything about this but at the same time I think they deserve to know how the distributors are treating the customers. Personally if it was my product and I found out this kind of thing was happening id be livid, after working so hard on something to have someone treat the paying customers like this.

I'm sure CDProjekt is working to try and rectify this. They have grown a reputation of listening to the community, so I'm sure this will be resolved in due time. :)

I am having the same problem - no response from customer service, other than folks passing on the responsibliitity to other companies - doesn't speak well to the initial business sense of the developers, and their ultimate commitment to customers - it's been months now. Unfortunately, CDProjekt and Digital River are off my list of purchases until rectified. If anyone hears of their taking responsiblity - and a way out - please post. Thank you.

you bought your game from someone else, please talk with them, the digital download editions are modified by their distributors so that they have that activation limit, neither Atari nor CDProjekt are involved in that, and they can't do anything for you, sorry :(

EDIT-I was absolutely frustrated! I format my gaming PC quite often and have flipped back and forth between XP and Vista a couple of times. Had the same activation issue. If you are too, call this # 1-952-646-5000They helped me out at midnight on a Saturday. Give them your name & order number and you'll have a new activation key in a few minutes. I take back all my Atari nay-saying. Good luck!

On 8/22/08 I purchased The Witcher from Direct2Drive, received the activation and registration codes. I registed the game, but the activation code does not work. I have sent them 7 emails since then and still have not gotten the correct code. I know that this issue won't be resolved here, but I want everyone to know that I have read many posts in different forums from people having the same problem. Do not buy this game from them.

Aha - so it is the digitally downloads that making this whole 3 limited activation things go into out games?Ok, now that's I've gotten this out of my system, I want to say to those who can't get their activation code to work that you need to look very closely at the code. Sometimes a 0 can look like an O, and there are certain certain letters that can be confused with one another such as Q or O and some other letters also look alike.

Not when u cut and paste the keys/code...I also received the witcher from d2d; had to change my sys, as my motherboard was defective, purchased a new one, and that was defective (ide controllers and usb ports didn't work)..So upgraded and tried reinstalling the witcher, and my activation code is invalid, because I re-installed the game more than once..

I'm having a similar problem, my serial # (the only number I got when I downloaded the game off this very website), and it's not long enough. Do I contact CDProjekt or Atari?
