Maybe the bug is tied with doing a grey quest.. Although I did do a grey quest and then saw the bug happening, I reloaded a save before doing the grey quest and it is still happening. So maybe the bug is activated even though you reload a save where you didn't do a grey quest.

I didn't do any grey quest with my ^^ 1.02 Save that i described above. All green.

I don't think it has something to do with the level. It seems that the broken flowers quest is where the bug starts. After talking with Vespula (gave me 150xp and then immediately 300xp) and the travesty elf (gave me 150 xp), the rest of the 3 remaining chats didn't give me any xp.

My other saves from the first playthrough (1.03 and 1.04 tested) were also bugged. I recogniced it at the "Pyres Of Novigrad" Mainquest the first time.

I still think, that it is somehow tied to your current Level.

The lets player i mentioned above was level ~12 when he did the "Broken Flowers" quest (quest level 11) and he was rewarded correclty.

As soon as i went level 14 i didn't get the rewards correctly.

Come to think of it...right after I talked to the travesty elf I became lvl 14 and then I didn't receive the xp. Maybe you're right..who knows? No... really..who knows? I would really like an explanation from CDPR on the nature of the bug. I like to know stuff. Also an exact release date for the patch would be nice.

Hi all,
quick question. I know the XP bug is bad, but can I finish the game nevertheless or will it cause a problem in the end?

I guess you can. At least CDPR rep claims it's no big deal. If all else fails, you can add missing XP with a cheat.

Except if you play on console.

The bottom line is that there's a problem with how the game is handling the xp gain whether it's a bug or intended. So they need to fix it. At least the bug. And fast because it's ruining the experience. See what I did there? It's stupid to farm the xp...I would just wait for the patch. It sucks, I know.

Depends really on what level you currently are and difficulty mode. Pretty confident it'd be impossible to finish it at, say, Level 14 on Death March, but maybe not Level 30ish on easy.
You never know, you may get one of these "lump sums" a few are reporting along the way.

Wait for the fix... You should expirience this game without worrying about xp gain. It definitely is a gamebreaking bug for me.

I am lvl 15 but just get started in Novingard. I finished this Count Reveu..Treasure and did not get XP for it just some money from Djirkstra. Since I can only play at night I can maybe finish one or two quest per day...thats it.

Nope. I've been on this forum since the first release of the witcher 2, before the forum overhauls. The game is getting patched up, no reason to spew insults at developers for no reason. Some people here have this ridiculous conspiracy bullshit idea that CDPR intentionally wants to screw people over.

??? a conspiracy ??? when have I ever talked about this!! stop reading stuff that isn't there just saying most GD today SUCK bad! not that they do shit on purpose, please learn how to read!

and yeah they are doing a patch which we are still waiting on!! Meanwhile, today had a new bug I am know stuck on starting screen loading for HOURS! instead of doing a huge patch they should hotfix it

I bet if CDPR was placing any advertising banners on the forum they could make like half income of the game preorder. Raging youngsters skyrocket the popularity of this. Anyhow one shouldn't be satisfied with falce promices. On another hand Wednesday (which is the latest according our friend Marcin) is still in progress even in Poland.

So let me reassure you - Poland can into games. (until 23:59 2015 06 03 at least)

I realize how frustrated you are.I am in the same situation although the only problem I had so far (lev 12) is this strange movement of Roach in motion, and perhaps xp glitch. And yet I have not touched the game since they announced the new patch. Probably encounter certain problems and will not release it earlier before they test it seriously.
it's still a very unpleasant situation

Yep me too. I originally discovered I had the bug at level 15 when getting ZERO xp for any main quests from Pyres of Novigrad on wards. I though I had fixed this by hours of testing different saves - I discovered (or thought I had) that truing in a grey quest had caused this. At that point I was level 12. All prior saves gave XP from Pyres, all subsequent saves did not. HOWEVER, after having played from this point onwards and got to the end of Broken Flowers... I have ecpereinced the same thing.

For me I got 150 from vespula, then another 300. Followed by 150 from the elf and 150 from the teacher - at this point I leveled up to 14. Both the subsequent girls have no XP and I got nothing for completing the quest either.

Frankly I am sick of this now. All this replaying the same missions repeatedly and bug testing has destroyed my immersion in the game. My only holiday this year is ruined, 85 hours wasted. The fact no patch or news is forthcoming means they are having problems. If they had good news it would be shared.

Probably going to seek a refund for the expansion pass, maybe even ask for a refund for the main game too. Product is not fit for purpose.

M8, games had bugs at all times, and this one is far from the worst scenario, I really do not see how this bug ruined 85 hours for you, 14 level reached Novigrad is not bad at all. See the world trough your window while they are working on it. Or if you are so eager to play now, just reinstall the game with lower patch.

Well if you are a hardcore witcher fan as I am, and you love the whole story, read the books and you are really into the witcher universe..I think you'll forget about it when the patch comes and you'll play it nonetheless.

So BREAKING NEWS about the hotfix.

As by MARCIN's words here (in polish) http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/42959-Informacja-dotycząca-źle-zliczanego-doświadczenia/page25 the coming patch is going to fix the problem with missing exp

AND I am going to let you know the way. Behold please. Tremble. The brilliand and genius, thus simple decision:

The quests intended to grant you (wait for it) 0 exp will now grant (wait a bit more) 5 (omgwtfiddqd 5 exp!!!!!11) exp.
So it took them about a week and a whole lot of patch bundle to come up with it. And not to release it yet.

Ola bois.

Btw @Marcin Momot - y u hate the eng speaking community so badly u do not bother to write anything here, dear community manager sir?

What I mean to say is that I have very limited time to play. This is my holiday and when i have the time to play it. After that, no time. Granted I should not have risked believing that the game would be released finished and not as a beta version.

Installing lower patch does not fix bug. It has been reported that XP bug is present even on 1.02

And this is pretty much a worse scenario for a bugged game: game breaking bugs that can appear at any time and halt progress - that you only find you have many hours into them.

True I have other stuff I can do, but I am entitled to be disappointed that a product I paid in full for in 2014 is now not fit for purpose on delivery in 2015.

Still I cant help feeling sore - if you bought any other kind of product then would you be so ambivalent about it if it was faulty? - buy a book to find it was missing 3 chapters in the middle only to be told by the publisher that they were aware that it was missing those chapters and are working hard to get them to you as soon as possible? Or if you went out for a meal only to find a chunk of it missing and be told by the restaurant that they were ware the ingredients were missing and the rest of the food was 'right around the corner' only to wait hours and never have it turn up. It is not life threatening by any means, but still frustrating and unacceptable service to the customer.

As I said in an earlier post, devs these days abuse the fact that patches can be delivered online to release faulty unfinished games to the public. Prior to that games had to be finished when shipped.
