i have installed witcher and registered it but every time i try to launch the game it says i have to be administrator for the first time playing the game im new at computer games and have no idea how to do what it is asking me

If you're using Vista or Windows 7, right-click on the game icon and select "Run as Administrator". That is, if the account you are using is an administrator account. (you can check from Control Panel -> User Accounts)

You just have to run the program with "Administrator" privileges. To do that, if you are using Win Vista/7, just right-click on the launcher and choose either 1) "run as administrator" or 2) "Properties", then go to the flap that reads "Compatibility" and mark the option at the bottom that reads "Run this program as an administrator".

Note that if your system has a password you will probably have to write it down, so if it is not your computer you might have to ask for it.

You will need to update to the 1.5 patch and remove tages via the tages website and by clicking on the 5.5 toward the bottom of the page and then choose the appropriate one for your system and follow the prompts
http://www.tagesprotection.com/main.htm?page=minimum.htm . You should then be able to play without the disc . The Tages driver is not compatible with Windows 7

it is still saying insuffient privileges you must be administrator when you run this application for the first time. i am the administrator of this computer and on properties there is no compatability tab for me to click on and clicking run as admin still isnt working

Slow down; you haven't had time to follow Tommy's instructions yet. Read them carefully, and follow them exactly.

Yep and when he replies back i`ll move this to TW 1 section . New forum is not exactly working correctly but would rather wait until problem is resolved first . Going from his original post and TW 1 was notorious for the have to be admin when running for the 1st time .

That's where I got confused, because the launcher of The Witcher 2 also had me running it as an admin to work properly. That was before patch 1.1 though, so maybe things changed.
