At the end of the day you have to have a balance as to what's shown. Too many people seem to think that if you can show a female's breasts then you should show a man's penis. Not even close.
Penis = Vagina.
Butt = Butt.
Female breasts really have no equivalent.

Unless CDPR plans on showing legit full blown vagina (not just pubic hair), then penis should be avoided. I don't care if we're showing his butt. However, I don't think we need this game going to the next level. Keep it rated R not NC-17.

I wonder if you ever read a novel where the male protagonist is a womenizer and the narrator doesn't waste so much as a line to describe his manly apparatus or any other erogenous zone, whilst being highly suggestive of his female partners' intimate features.

If it's a perfectly legitimate thing to do in a novel, why wouldn't it be in a cutscene?

Yep... The thing is that women tend to be less disgusted at seeing female nudity than men are at seeing male nudity.

Honestly, seeing male nudity together with female nudity shouldn't scare males off. That's sex. I'm sure that there enough people who have watched pornography that it shouldn't be all that "disgusting" for men to to see male nudity. However, I'm still of the opinion that the game shouldn't be going too graphic. I mean, it's a game. If rated R movies can do it without showing everything, then so can a game.

Anyway, it's a lot easier to show the front of a woman without showing a full blown shot of her genitals. For a man it's impossible. Otherwise, showing Geralt's butt shouldn't be a big deal.

All generalizations are bogus, including mine, but there's a difference between "Ewww, that's a turn-off!" and "OMG, exploiting women!" Many women, including all the ones I live with, will have the latter reaction. They are not exactly unjustified, but that's a can of live bait I don't want to reopen today.

All very true. Wichat nailed it in her post. Mature is about depicting things that are important in the lives of mature people, in a way that makes you see in them what is important in your life. It doesn't have to go beyond that.

Anyway, I'd like to get a reason why it's legitimate to have intimacy depicted asymmetrically in novels but, suddenly, cutscenes in videogames must follow the guidelines from the Ministry of gender equality.

We'd be watching the scene through Gerlt's eyes and his gaze wouldn't dwell on his own little Geralt jr, that's for sure.

Having said that, any post-coital half-dressed witcher will look undignified.

I just need to comment on this. I really don't think it's got anything to do with it. You can be super-mega-straight as a woman and still not mind other naked women at all. I know I don't. I would mind, however, if a woman in the locker room would be showing off her vulva in a crab walk. And I really don't think I'm alone in this.

Edit: So maybe men (generally) feel more uncomfortable around other naked men because their genitalia is always out, which it isn't in women? I have no idea, but I don't think it's got anything to do with sexuality. It's probably just a cultural thing.

Well, that wasn't the precise correlation I was trying to establish, but then again I won't elaborate.


To reiterate, there is no reason other than some skewed notion on gender equality to force cutscenbes into featuring both male and female genitalia or none. I mean, there might be a legitimate narrative reason to do so, such as the scene being recounted by a third person, otherwise, we're getting to see it through Geralt's eyes and thus it should be cut and edited accordingly.
