I always do timed clicks to save me from hurting my finger clicking like mad, because clicking like mad won't make it any better. Timing itself takes some practice, but becomes really easy once you get into the flow :>

Agreed. Timing in TW2 is very subtle, but it's there and it's quite satisfying to figure it out and make the combat flowing.

Btw I'm replaying it on dark mode now, on Roche's path and once I got the blasphemer's outfit set I slice them like butter. I've invested points in riposte, it's great when fighting another swordsman. I haven't used quen much nor roll much, only at the beginning, better use axii, aard, yrden and riposte. I've invested points in damaging more then one opponent. Everything works amazing, and by not using quen, I do much more damage, and amazing looking combos, spinning in the air, Geralt jumping from one enemy to another, and when using riposte, most of the time is one hit kill . ;)

And I agree - don't rush just clicking mouse buttons, at least not on harder difficulties. The timing thing from TW1 is still here, but not so obvious, plus you also have complete control over Geralt's movement and positioning, so you have to combine these elements to make combat most satysfying.

Godspeed.

Honestly i dont think the timing and chaining from the former witcher is still there, i dont notice it, and ive played with it. If you could prove me wrong i would greatly appreciate it, i might actually enjoy it more

It is not exactly the same as in The Witcher 1 - there is no indication when you must prest the mouse button. It's more natural, something about watching and feeling Geralt's animations, how they flow and when is the right time to go with another move.

Yep, the timing is definitely there, but it took me at least two previous playthroughs to completely figure it out; you have to watch Geralt's movements and if you click at the right moment, his moves are beautifully chained together, whereas wrong timing may interrupt his pirouettes. There are some pretty cool combos to discover, try combining weak and strong attacks and changing direction sometimes.

Yeah, the interruption is also there, that's why some people might find the combat unresponsive if they click the mouse buttons too early, without timing them. That is of course apart from other responsiveness issues the combat actually has.

Been a while since i played the game.

Im going to wait until the enhanced edition to see what changes to the combat they make before i play it again tbh as after a while the combat just became a bore for me :( But i love the story and setting.

Focussing on the sword tree and a fully upgraded Quen is a sure way to make the game pretty easy if you have some points left over potion duration is always a nice bonus.

Q: Which mods make the game experience better?

A: The Dice Mod. I couldn't tell if I was winning or losing, the way that the new dice looked.
