I amnot "lazy" :)

I do find the alchemy system in TW1 to be particularly clunky and restrictive. No item pickups till you read the books(illogical)

They force you to learn ingredient classes.Because when they are missing you won't be told ingredient "X" but ingredient class "Rubedo" or "High quality potion" base.Go waste time to figure out what that is.

It forces you to waste more time than you should when trying to make a simply potion.

This was all improved in TW2.

you are lazy....it is perfectly logical for you to need to read books about monsters and herbs because of Geralts amnesia. I consider TW2's alchemy sistem dumbed down because it is easyer, cheaper owerly simplified.....how do you get a bomb from some plants(stupid) at least in TW1 you needed powder for a base, greese to coat your weapons, alchool as a solvent for potions. Sure it wasn't cheap you had to buy books in order to know the plants and alchemy ingreadience, and alchool/greese/powder but it was the right and logical way to do it.

I am lazy and you like wasting time on boring, menial tasks in games.

Player choice my friend, player choice. :yes

And yes, I've also read about the coming 'trigger effect on cue' in Witcher 3. You down a potion or two and choose when to activate it. It has something to do with witchers unique metabolism.

I don't mean to come off as hostile or mean but really the alchemy in TW1 got on my nerves when I wanted to do potions in a hurry.

I know it can be very fulfilling and satisfying but equally annoying when you do it repeatedly over the course of a long game such as TW1.I liked it the first few times. Not so much later on.

Again, player choice. As a 'on and off' choice option in the menu. So those in favour(me among others) can have what we want, and those against(you and others) don't have to bother with it. All will be happy. Except the devs, possibly. ::)

I liked almost everything in TW1 better than TW2, the only thing that was better in TW2 was the combat system, because it was less tedious, if TW1 combat wasn't that boring it would've been superior to TW2 in every way. But the inventory system, alchemy, on the fly drinking of the potions, getting someone drunk to tell you information, atmosphere was better in TW1, graphics in TW2 were only better texture wise, the visual design and the level design in TW1 was better in general. That's why I'm happy that they've announced that they're going back to their roots, at least I think I've read that somewhere.

I have already previously posted my personal preferences and opinions about alcohol and it's use for alchemy returning in Witcher 3 and I am definitely in favor of it's return. As I am hopeful and in favor the alchemy system of Witcher 1 returns in Witcher 3.

I have to admit I do miss Albedo, rubedo, and Nigredo effects ETC. of course in a re-balanced & revised form for Witcher 3. I feel it added additional depth to the alchemy system.

I'm looking at you Falkstein! :yes ( I sure hope we get to see Falkstein in W3!) Whether it returns or not I would like to also express another thing that is related and equally important in my opinion.

Please CDPRED bring back a similar UI like Witcher 1!!! or at the very very least, do not have the potion & oil timers smack dab in the upper center of the screen! Honestly, I appreciate the the ease of seeing the time I have left but IMO I think the bad outweighs the good as far as distraction goes, not to mention it hurts the beautiful graphics.

I do not know how others feel about this in general? I would personally like to know how others feel about having/not having the potion, oil, buff timers directly on the screen as they were in Witcher 2? I thought the positioning in the top left corner underneath the wolf medallion worked well enough.

As always, I cannot wait for the third game!

Damn, this thread took me back. I still say yes to this, and besides alcohol bases, I also miss nigredo, rubedo and albedo(albedo was my favourite). Kalkstein's return is a must as well! ;)

Oh, yes,
Sometimes citrinitas is omitted from later texts. Some alchemists give nigredo as the start of the opus, but I disagree and feel it’s quite an advanced stage. Also some writers give albedo as the end of the work, whereas others go on to the rubedo. There isn’t a lot of agreement about how the opus should be done. The three main colours, black, white and red can be found elsewhere in religion and myth. Robert Graves attributes these to the White Goddess as regards the phases of the moon:

I don't think George Orwell would be too happy about that. Or Big Brother for that matter.
