I skipped it in my first run too. Then I started playing it in the following runs and I love it. I actually got pretty good at it and my only complaint is that there are no other NPC great players after the quest related. All remaining opponents in the game are weak. I also want GOG Galaxy to acknowledge my achievement as I won a round with 201 strength and it didn't give me the achievement!!! Gwent is very fun and addictive once we get it. Need better NPC opponents though. =)

I bailed on it. I feel too restless in my first playthrough, rather be out exploring and killing shit.

For the sake of High Stakes, one of the most rewarding (monetary wise) and interesting side quests in the game, I think you should give Gwent another shot

I didn't play Gwent in my first playthrough, probably because I didn't really get the hang of it, plus I thought to myself, its probably just a dumb card game. Started understanding and playing it on my second playthrough, and all I can say is Gwent is love, Gwent is life. Everyone has different preferences I suppose.

^This. It took a while to get to like it, but then, I couldn't stay away.

Didn't bother with it. It felt unnaturally forced into the world. Every second NPC wants to play this game. Ok, I'm happy for you but I'll just hunt monsters and wait for this fad to die.

I don't care for it as I suck at card games, or any other game that relies heavily on random chance..But as far as collecting cards...Well, that's a different story altogether!

First play-through I skipped gwent. As soon as I started playing gwent on my 2nd play-through I felt like an idiot for not playing it earlier. Then later on in the game I found out that gwent actually led to a few quests.

Its simple. If you skip gwent you'll miss out on part of the story and a couple good quests.

It's the best mini-game in the game ever, so why wouldn't I care about it?

I'd trade it in a heartbeat for better boxing.

Hear hear, Witcher 1's boxing was much better, not a stupid quick time event

Witcher 2 fist fighting was terrible. But W1's was clunky as hell, easily cheesable. And those long unskippable win animations, oh god.

While I think Gwent is probably the best mini game in RPG history, it's still partially annoying. Yet, the surrounding quests are pretty good!

Even if this is meant as a joke reference from the first game, we ask that people please refrain from attacking other users for their personal preferences. We're all entitled to our own opinions, but should respect those of our fellow players.

Also, the stated topic of this thread is the discussion of Gwent, not boxing.

Its so easy to skip gwent cause its early in the game and all you wanna do is to get out there and explore, but after a few matches you know how it works and its fun. Sometimes I start the wild hunt just to play a couple games of gwent.

I just wish I could abolish the spy-ability
just kidding.. if you played final fantasy 8 and triple triad you'll get it

Gwent is allmost as good as TT

I touched on Gwent for a quick minute a week or two back. I don't care for cards in real life...heck, my wife laughed at me early in our relationship when I showed her I could barely cut a deck of cards. :) Maybe next playthrough I'll kick it around a bit more but enjoying too many other elements of the game now to care for cards.

Heh that's cool TC I did not really start to like Gwent until I started using mods which makes Gwent a lot harder to play.

You don't have to play Gwent if you don't like it. I don't.
