Aming Ballista and opening gate inprolouge

I am a Senior who loves this game, but would like to know why the aiming of the Ballista and opening the gate in the castle are so difficult, I haven't been able to do either and have reset my wireless mouse to every setting available, and can never get them to work, why not a simple patch requiring only holding down the left mouse button to open them, I am about to give up, my hands are still very nimble, so that's not the problem

I'd recommend against a wireless mouse, as I don't think they are ever as responsive as a wired one. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that. I agree that holding the mouse button down would be a nice patch. Many people have had a hard time with this. One solution would be to upload your save game to media fire and me or someone else can get you past this and then return the save. Or perhaps you can map that function to the keyboard? I haven't tried that myself. Also, check out Nexus, maybe someone has made a mod for this.

For these quick-time events, can you see a yellow progress bar that you fill up when you left-click? If you can't, the problem might have something to do with your current configuration. Some settings prevent QTE's from displaying correctly, making them frustratingly difficult from what I understand. If this is the case, try running the game with lower detail and resolution, say 1280x720.

Alternatively there are forum members who are willing to play past some parts for you if necessary, so you may be able to email them your saved game. The prologue can be very unforgiving, so don't let that discourage you. Once you get past some of these initial nuances, you will realize how truly great this game is.

There is also an ingame option, which makes QTEs easier.

I think what the option does is turn off "difficult" QTE's, i.e. those where you can die. These QTE's are easy in principle, but they don't always work as intended. In fist-fighting, for example, some people can't even see the cues.

Yes, instead to fight difficult bosses you get hard balista,
with last patch it's (almost) imposible to get past that
sequence in game(gave up on my 4 walktrough)

For the first shot you have to aim at a different spot than the king tells you to get it to hit. Just watch this video and you should get it.

As for the second part where you need to open the gate, that is a quick time event and you can turn that off in the game options. They really are a pain sometimes (I've died to the dragon on the bridge at least 20 times) yet I've never had any trouble with the fist fights or most other QTE sequences.

During the time when you're looking through the spy glass, I hit ESC by accident, and was provided three choices on the screen.

One was 2.5, one was 1.5, and I forgot the last one.

I told the king 2.5, and the shot missed. Then I did it again and told him 1.5, and that one worked.

If you can get to the 3 options listed on the screen, try that number. Hopefully it's the same every time. If not, restore the last save game and try again.

Regarding the dragon attack. There are two instances if I remember correctly. The first one, go to the left side inside the wooden tunnel structure and kill the enemies ahead of you. The king and the other person will follow you.

If you're talking about the second attack, I had a similar problem - getting killed over and over again - because I tried to turn around to run away from the dragon.

If you're on the PC, don't try to turn around. In the WSAD configuration, hit the S key, this will make the king and Geralt run towards you. The dragon will chase you but miss every attack (with not much room to spare lol).

Good luck.

Go to Media Fire and signin to your account . You should be presented with the file or files you uploaded . Look to the far right of the file and hover your mouse over it and there should be what looks like an upside down triangle , click it and select "copy link'. Then come here and add post and in an empty area right click and select paste . Your downlink link should appear in the post .

Closer but still not quite there . I`ll do my best to walk you through it .
1) Click start
2) click Documents
3) Click Witcher 2 folder to open it
4) Click gamesaves to open it
5) Scroll down to the last autosave you have . The latest save will have the newest date and time to the right of it . This is the save you want to upload and then post the link here or email the save to me . Either one works .

Sorry that you're having difficulty with the game, but let's tone it down, please.

As for the problem itself, it appears to be an issue with wireless mice and/or mice that require their own drivers. What sort of setup are you using?

Also, can you include:

1.) General system specs, including Windows version?

2.) Any mods?

3.) Are you running with Vsync on or off? Any overclocking?

4.) What's your anti-virus?

5.) Where is the game installed (complete directory path)?
