An idea and a mod question?

+
Hi All,

I have some ideas for new missions in CP2077 that have an actual storyline. I've seen this done in other, heavily modded, open-world games like Skyrim, but there are very few 'new mission' mods for Cyberpunk. Can anyone tell me why this is? is there an extra degree of work involved in modding in this game that makes it impractical?

Aye.

Games like Skyrim and Fallout release tools such as the Creation Kit that help with modding.

As well as being on engines that are more accessible than CDPR's proprietary REDEngine.

CDPR has never facilitated modding for their games. As such, the only way people are able to mod is by reverse engineering the REDEngine to try and force them to work.

This is then further compounded by the extra work needed to make new content in the game, with triggers to make it function, NPC's and rigging to implement, writing and optional voice acting, UI elements to track and update etc.

Meaning they are some of the more involved things to mod in. Which is made much harder by the difficulty in actually modding CP2077 itself.

In fact you compare games which are the most "mod-friendly" out there, which are developed with mods in mind and for which the studio is releasing mod tools to games which are pretty much the opposite.
So yes, it's way easier for modders to make mods on Bethesda games (Creation Engine) than it is on CDPR Red game (Red Engine).

What Taril said is wrong as indicated by shadowm0ss, CDPR has provided decent tools for The Witcher 3 and very decent "mission mods", even DLC-sized mods have been created. As demonstrated by mods like The Spider and the Wolf, Tales of the Witcher or The Price of Neutrality to name a few.

Unfortunately, at this time no equivalent toolkit exists for CP2077 and CDPR has not announced anything to that effect. That doesn't necessarily mean it's not coming but at this point in time I don't personally think it is. Don't get your hopes up is what I'm saying.

Also note that, like LeKill3rFou said, Bethesda games like Skyrim are the most mod friendly games out there. There's just nothing that compares and that's because their engine and their games are built from the ground up to accommodate modding and then they provide a powerful toolkit to work with. You can't really use them as a reference point for modding potential expectations.

I would like some of the cyber wear from the tabletop like the bioexotic packages I have been playing cyberpunk 2077 and recently got into the tabletop and I would love to see some of the cyber wear from it implemented to the video game
