First I've heard of that. I don't much care for it either. Happy? And yet nobody raised this when the discussion was about extra items for people buying from a specific retailer?

Bumping because I never got an answer.CDPR got a chance to get on the MS stage at E3 quite a big thing. So if the partner who game them as big a chance as E3 live stage demo asks for something in return you think they won't oblige and ruin their relationship?Well technically of course they are partners in the legal definition(I was thiking more along the lines of Bandai Namco/WB when I said that earlier, my mistake). What I mean is the difference between CDPR-MS and CDPR-Sony relations. Anyone can see MS and CDPR favour each other. Exactly how much Sony and Witcher do you hear together?
Not if you have values. That's practically a bribe; and CDPR had no obligation to fulfill any of Microsoft's requests. They invited CDPR to the stage, CDPR accepted, they should NOT expect anything in return. Expecting something in return is being self-centered and egoistic, Microsoft is in no position to demand or expect things from "partners" unless there was some monetary or contractual obligation; in which case, both sides knew of the deal, but did not choose to announce it to their customers prior to this announcement.
Not our problem if his words come to be lies again. He's promising no exclusives, period. He didn't specify what kind of exclusive, so we better not see any exclusive marketing/advertising for specific platforms or deals on platforms. Can't wait.- Marcin Iwinski.Still, I do hope that what we offer is unique and we can ask you to give us the benefit of the doubt. We have more great things to announce for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the coming months and I promise you won't be disappointed (yes, yes, there are no more exclusives coming).
inb4 but they said X before!
Not my problem, I'm just quoting the statement.
My girlfriend and I were thinking this last night because microsoft is windows pc right so maybe give a free for all for them too. But who pays for sony's part, that's right you guessed it, sony does. If some folks had a new mind set about all of this stuff, then people would see that this was just a little extra gift to us witcher fans from microsoft, who will be playing on XB1. So I say thanks microsoft, and perhaps CDPR always wanted to have this stuff come with all of the CE games from the start, but did not have the funds to do so. Or it was a new fresh deal with microsoft's after the fact, But then again who knows.. Because it was a risk, just like the TW3 game we will take risks. CDPR did their math and knew that fans did not judge them in the past for exclusive real world merch in the past with TW1&TW2.Wish CDPR figured that each CE would need its own exclusive...
MS gets something for the Xbone
Sony gets something for the PS4
Valve gets something for the PC
They could all be different "exclusives" be everybody should have gotten something
No, you can't. It isn't "House Of Glass". It's a completely different comic called "Killing Monsters".The difference between store/country specific content and the XBOne CE content is that the retailer items are usually available separately at a reasonable extra cost. For example, if I want a copy of that German comic, I can order it today from Amazon.de for EUR29.99.
:scold:The killing monster comic for Amazon is not being sold separetly - house of Glass is.
:scold:
This is not cool either. Way worse than the cards and map (which in truth I only am a bit annoyed by. It was the way you did it that really irked me), because this is a new Witcher story that apparently won't be available anywhere else.
Constant delivering? They were founded in 2002 and we've had two games since.I don't know what all the fuzz is about. I'm just a loyal fan who thinks that CDProjekt deserves a bit of thankfulness for their constant delivering of great games.
Oh I know what the most serious issue is here, dont worry, I am against what CDP did, but I was talking in that post only about the deal in general as a product for consumers. Also buying it from ebay is not the same as from CDP, because its still buying the stuff that MS paid for.i would just buy the cards and cloth map from e-bay myself the day it comes out. doesn't really matter how much the seller asks for it, if i want it, i will get it. alot of the issue is with the trust about the developer keeping its "implied" word of treating all platforms equally. implied being the keyword here. when dealing with long term clients and supporters, you don't dance around the semantics or legalities of your previous statements, you do everything you can to make sure those people are satisfied with what you provide from your end, if you say you don't do preferential treatments, you don't do preferential treatments. that being said, i understand that they had to throw microsoft a cookie for being their partner, but that does not mean that everyone should just shrug it off as "well, they were just talking about in game content" or preach about "you are receiving a quality game, you should just be thankful for that" or "you are getting what you bargained for, nothing less, why can't you let other platforms receive extras you won't get jackshit for?."
if they needed more money, they could have just jacked up the price of the game and i'm pretty sure most people would still buy it. honestly, i would have paid even $750 for that CE with or without additional "happy meal items" just to support the developers that i know will have my back for years to come.
oh and yeah, regarding timmy and his jellybeans.. timmy will get his jellybeans, he will probably have to mug poor little dan from across the playground and maybe burn that candyshop down a few years later for causing him repressed childhood anger issues later in life but timmy will get his jellybeans.
this post was made in jest btw. don't take it too seriously.
It's been done plenty of times. It's not that uncommon a practice.Man someone did not produce a comic just so it can be amazon pre-order bonus. It will either be free or sold digially, chill out.
Mate comparing CD Projekt Red to EA & Activision is a bit of an overstatement if you ask me, do I agree with what they did? Not really, but it is acceptable, it is not as bad as other companies, the game's content itself remains the same, the card game is included ingame where you will get to play it cross platform, the map sure is a nice thing for collectors, but in my opinion the lack of those two items won't even scratch the core experience, the core experience remains the same.CDPR loved the publicity of this...
"We'll not deliver exclusive content to any of the platforms, nor will we artificially delay release of the game on any of the platforms because somebody's paying us money for that. It's definitely against our values. We are not doing that."
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-05-14-witcher-3-dev-vows-no-exclusive-content-for-any-platform
And then takes money from Microsoft and changes their story to this...
"Don't get me wrong, I do understand that these extra items might be desirable for Witcher fans playing the game on other platforms. However, as we are not offering any platform or retail exclusive DLCs or any other form of gameplay differentiation, we do have to find other ways to support our partners."
Now I'm sure CDPR knew they had to "support" their partner Microsoft. So why talk empty talk of "values"? Why not just admit that they were gonna give the Xbone "exclusive content" back before E3? Why pretend that when Bungie does it (timed exclusives) those are "bad values" and you pretend you are above all that? CDPR is no better (or worse) than EA, Activision, MS, Sony, Bungie, Epic or anybody else in this business. This expected backlash to CDPR's "values" statement is greatly deserved no matter how good the game they produce is... Stop drinking the CDPR kool-aid...except the fact they "dropped the PR ball" and will lose fans (like myself) over this.
Hope those of you not concerned enjoy the Witcher come February. Hope it's a great game too. Those of us bothered by all this will move on to the Order 1886 or something else.
You really want to switch open world RPG for scripted corridor shooter? Lets hope the Order turns out better then it looks...Those of us bothered by all this will move on to the Order 1886 or something else.
Yea that's the worst thing I found in his comment, how about bloodborn and mgs V instead (and witcher for 30$ later)You really want to switch open world RPG for scripted corridor shooter? Lets hope the Order turns out better then it looks...
