Hmm...this is all very interesting. I think that the main reason why people are so upset is due to the reputation CDPR have. And this, to be honest, goes against this.
I think the story starts with Microsoft. They seem to be throwing money at everyone. Look at the outrage about the next Tomb Raider. I think the Xbox1, which has had it hard since it's reveal, is simply being outsold by the PS4, and Microsoft are throwing money at some of the biggest franchises in hopes of bumping up their sales.
The Tomb Raider thing also suited Square Enix who keep saying how much they lost with the last Tomb Raider game, even though it sold over 6million copies! If they need 6 million copies to break even on a game, they need a series reality check. Nevertheless, they were in the news a while ago about maybe not being able to make another Tomb Raider, and having to lay workers off. If this is all true, they were probably only too happy to take Microsoft's money for a timed exclusive.
Now since CDPR don't do payable DLC's, and console-exclusive ingame content, and i doubt they'd agree to a timed exclusive (they've said all this in the past), Microsoft's bargaining power was a little stifled. Let's give CD the benefit of the doubt, and say the cards and map were probably the most they were willing to do, and the least Microsoft would accept.
Honestly, if a deck of cards, and a piece of cloth is enough to get CD some extra sales, which means more money to make better games for us, then let Xbox owners have it. It's cards and a piece of cloth guys, come on.
Also, let's have a look at what you are actually getting, because what CD offer in their standard copy of the game is unheard of at other companies. Especially for the price, especially for the PC downloadable version. The collector's edition content is jaw-dropping awesome. You'd not get the same from other companies. You simply wouldn't. You'd have 10 different versions, all offering something different, and none giving you everyting you want, and you'd be paying for extra in-game content.
Not to mention that the game is DRM free, that the forums are helpful, moderated well, and frequented by CD staff. The customer service is run by actual human beings, and not robots who promise to 'get back to you', or 'pass on your concerns'.
And i have full confidance the game will actually be a quality product and not require 10 patches, and crash each time you to go smell the roses.
So yes, i understand people are upset. But come on. It's not that much of a problem. Besides, have a look at the pre-order page, it does say that they might add some more to it. They even said this in the W3 version reveal video a while ago. So they haven't decieved anyone. And who knows, they might add even more to the PC and PS versions. And if they don't, hell, i'm getting one heck of an awesome package as is.
