+

Are your swords oiled up and sharpened? Potions brewed? Roach saddled? It’s time to face Eredin and his entourage once again in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered! Coming September 29, 2026!

This new version of the game features an array of improvements, bringing upgrades to visuals, gameplay, and more. It will be available as a free upgrade to all owners of the game on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is also available for pre-purchase on Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2 (and if you own The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch, you will be able to claim Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 when it releases).

That’s not all, though! All current owners of the base game will gain access to the two original expansions – Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine – for free! Both of these expansions will also be included in Remastered base game!

I gather the changes info is coming in the REDstreams this week?

Please dont let this "remaster" actually be a UE5 trash wrapper that also makes the game 150-200GB
I cant help but feel this is gonna be the case and the only way that SotP is gonna play because the FT devs dont know the REDengine.

FT has several ex-CDPR devs. Also, this wouldn't be the first time that CDPR gives the REDengine to other devs. They did this with Virtous for Cyberpunk and Yigsoft for TW3 REDkit.
And no. Judging by the "Full DX12 support" I think this IS REDengine. Since a lot of people complained about the D3D11onD3D12 of the 4.0 version of the game.

I had hoped for the next gen version to include Volumetric fog (The current version has Screen Space light shafts) and Volumetric Clouds (Right now there are "Semi-Volumetric" clouds with 2D sprites that face the camera) but it didn't. I was looking for them here in the trailer and I couldn't find them. Such a missed opportunity to add these 2 features with the remastered version.
Anyways, super excited!

P.S I had noticed some of the graphical improvements in the R.O.A.C.H April fools' day video (particularly the new particle effects) :D

Hello,
I have a question: Is there anything story-related changed in the rework?
Perhaps new dialogues, options to resolve quests,...?
Is this mostly graphical and gameplay update?

Next to that, I think it would serve the game well if the character models were reworked to look more according to the book descriptions.
E.g.: Geralt's face could be pale, skinnier and have more minor scars, he would have longer hair,...Like Geralt from the Witcher 1 :)

Why in the world would allow another company like Blizzard to have anything at all to do with your already successful game? you already have your own distribution sources and don't need them. i don't see how this can be a win for CDPR at all. it can only have negative outcomes for the game we love.

TRANSMOG! Genuinely the one thing I have been hoping the game had, for many, many years. :D

I don't care about graphics enhancements (the game doesn't need any imo), but gameplay enhancements are great news.

Well there goes my 200+ mod build. May as well delete it now and clear the disc space for the new version

Wouldn't this actually be Witcher 3 Next Gen Remastered?

D3D11onD3D12
D3D11onD3D12 is used every time you fire up Steam or MSI Afterburner (And a ton of other DX12 games) and is permanently on your system and is normally called from Windows/system32 folder. It has NOTHING to do with actual gameplay graphics and was used (and still is used) in Next Gen for the menus which were written in DX11 ..... just like the Steam Overlay and just like the MSI Afterburner Overlay. That saves a lot of wasted time rewriting menus in DX12. Lots of DX12 games have DX11 menus and call D3D11onD3D12 to make them work seamlessly. It also allows overlays to work in both DX11 and DX12 games which is why it is used in Steam, Afterburner and Ubisoft Connect. Just about every game or game app that has an overlay uses D3D11onD3D12 so the overlays will work on both DX11 and DX12

Will my current save carry over to the remastered version? Or will I have to start a new game just to be able to play the remaster?

I have doubts regarding the launch. Due to a poor choice, I bought the game on the now-defunct Origin, and I know there are always problems with them. Now I don't see the EA platform listed for launch. I still have the game with them; GOG detects it, but I don't know if it will be updated.

If I am currentlinin the middle of witcher 3 playthrough. Haven’t really started the expansions. How will the new remastered version update impact my curreny save file?

Will the alternative looks for Yennefer, Triss, Ciri and Dandelion be the same as the complete edition? I play on console without mods and i really like the different skins.

Very likely ;)

There are some answers here, but I guess the "update" will not affect your current saves ;)
Will my save files still work?
Yes. Your save files remain compatible and Cross Progression will remain functional the same as before.

Will the free upgrade also be available to players who own physical copies for Xbox?
