Annoying bounce

Annoying bounce

It seems whenever I start moving every few seconds the camera slightly bounces. I first thought this was just a frame rate issue but I sustain 45 FPS the entire time. I only get this issue when I am outside but even if I put my video options on low I still get it. I have everything up to date and I meet the recommended requirements for the game. I am even running the game on medium. Is this just a bug in game that everyone has or is this a problem with my computer?

Do you mean the camera is kind of jiggling around a lot? If so I get it as well, I think it's just the auto-adjustment for the terrain bumps. Try just clicking on the ground ahead and letting the camera settle.

I have the same problem, and it does it no matter the graphical or audio settings. It happens in all 3 camera modes.I just upgraded from an X1950XTX to a 3870 X2, and the issue is exactly the same. It's like the game slows down when new graphical elements are shown. It is quite annoing because the game runs very fine.I'm going to do some new test, but havent find nothing yet to help.BTW i think that i'll wait that the patch for the enhanced version come out to continue playing to game....

It can't be terrain that is the issue because even when I'm in a cave with tons of bumps in the ground I don't have any issue. I think it might have something to do with loading new objects and graphical elements like bubattolo said because when I run faster I get the issue more often and it is only noticeable in an area outside with tons of things to load as I am moving. I've put visibility range on low and I still have the problem and I am quite confident that my computer can run this game on all low but it gets the problem then too.

It has happened for me too. If you stop moving for a few seconds, it seems like the camera and everything else catches back up and the area runs fine. Seems to happen more in larger areas like in Act 1 and Act 4 with the open areas.

I am in the temple quarter and it is very noticeable. I am doing a lot of test, but nothing is really making a difference.Turning vsync off (i usually have it always on because i HATE vsync tearing) "helps": when it is on, after the "bounce" seems that the witcher is "catching on" the frames running faster, the goes normal. With vsync off and at lower resolutions it is better, but at 1024*768 with a 19" lcd everything looks bad :(, I "have" to run everything at 1280.Deliriousyeti, do you have an ati or nvidia card?

And it is very annoing because i spend the most time running around the temple quarter (at the moment) where this issue is present (on my computer).

I have an ATI Radeon x1950 PRO. Possibly an issue with ATI? Or a select few of their cards including the x1950?

That "anoying bounce" is an intentional camera movement mechanism in the game to "simulate" head movement while running. it can be anoying especialy if your running through an area where there is alot going on and your frame rate takes a hit.

II seems to me that the bounce is almost in the same point when i run on the streets,I mean that it doesn't bounce every 2 or 3 or 4 seconds sync'ed to his movements but it depends on where i am, and sometimes it is better and sometimes it is worse. To be honest it was even worse in the first part of the game, outside Visima. In places like caves it doesn't bounce this way

I registered with fraps a little footage, but it seems that fraps doesn't like my 3870x2. I'll try later with the 8.3 catalyst or wait for a new fraps version to come out...

Well if everyone has this then I have no idea how people can finish the game. It drives me absolutely nuts.

It's definitely not the simulated head movement (I've seen the game on several pc's, with and without that "bounce). I've tried reinstalling all drivers and many different graphic settungs, but unfortunately none of this worked. So if anyone found a solution so far, please call in! :-[

i presume you use the OTS mode... the camera is just slighty above and behind Geralt and if some NPC is passing by too close the camera will self adjust, but if this also happens when no NPC is around i can't say what's causing thismaybe have some video game footage when this happens!?

I have the same problem. Perhaps 'bounce' isn't the greatest descriptor, as a lot of people are confusing it with the actual movement in OTS mode. The best way I can describe it is as offline llag-- the FPS remains smooth, but there's a split second jolt. Only happens in outside areas, as said before, such as the outskirts and the temple quarter. I've tried to ignore it, but I'm shelving the game until I find a solution. What I've tried: setting the priority to realtime, suspending all anti-virus, rolling back my card's drivers, re-updating the driver's, installing more RAM, defrag, setting everything I can think of to the lowest possible setting on my system, reinstalling the game. No results. I don't have the best setup, but it should at least run: AMD Athlon 3400+, Geforce 6800GT, 2 GB RAM, 7200 RPM HDD w/16MB cache

This thread appears to be about the same problem: http://www.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?topic=13192.msg304889#msg304889.Someone there suggested that it may be a page file issue. This can't be the case-- my page file is huge, over 4 gigs, and on a separate partition. I also forgot to mention that my video memory is 512MB.

I'll try to make a video within the next 2 days...Btw, it happens in all three camera modes, so it's not the self-adjustment
