Another AMD User With Lockups

I've looked all over the internet for help on this, so I am assuming at this point that it's smarter to just inform the devs that this is a thing. I've noticed other topics that feature the same exact issues. Here: http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/39335-Another-Radeon-user-having-lockups-making-game-not-playable-description AND here: http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/54734-Complete-lock-up-crash-of-PC-cannot-play-the-game.

As far as I can tell, there's nothing that's been mentioned in other topics about this, and I apologize if I've missed something that has been.

Specs, just in case:

Windows 7, 64bit
AMD FX-8320 3.50 GHz
8 GB RAM
MSI Radeon R7950
Beta AMD Catalyst 15.8
Corsair CX Series 750w
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Cooler

Hope this brings some attention to this issue. Kinda sad I've been having to inconvenience my girlfriend to play this on her PC. :/

Turn off any O'Clocking, this would include CPU Turbo Boost. Game does not like o'clocking.

OK, but is your CPU have "Turbo Boost" enabled. You would need to boot into your Bios for this.

Going to have to Google how to do that. Will let you know what happens. Thanks so much!

I am not guaranteeing this is the problem, but this game likes a stable operating system to run on. Turbo Boost is a form of built in o,clocking.

Booted into the BIOS screen and couldn't find anything tagged with overclocking or the words 'turbo boost'. I don't even run MSI Afterburner either. I'm assuming I'm just borked.

The CPU is capable of boosting to 4.0Ghz, but only on a motherboard that supports it. Theoretically though, there isnt a board made that would run the CPU that also doesnt have turbo boost available.

There should be an option somewhere in the Performance settings in the BIOS, but if this is an OEM PC they may have hidden it or diabled it entirely for some reason.

Who made the PC? And if its a custom build, whats the motherboard make and model?

I should add here that I seriously doubt that turbo boosting is what makes you crash, but any avenue is worth exploring at this point.

I built the PC, swapped out the board and CPU earlier this year though. The board is a Gigabyte 970A-D3P (http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Chipset-2000MHz-Motherboards-GA-970A-D3P/dp/B00DJ3DWFK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1443118109&sr=8-2&keywords=gigabyte+motherboard+amd)

What should I look for the the performance settings of the BIOS? There's no 'turbo boost' or 'overclock' on any of the screens.

Page 35 Core Performance Boost= Auto, disable this. This will only allow your CPU to run at default speed 3.50 GHZ.

It was worth a shot, when game first released, a lot of people were having trouble with overclocking. Gpu isn't overclocked from factory? Verify game files? Anything running in the background? Anti virus maybe? Just trying to trigger a though process. Good Luck

honestly mang at this point is probably easiest to throw together a temporary partition to install a fresh copy of your OS on for testing.... if you do that and it works you basically rule out a ton of possible hardware problems and narrow it down to some software issue with the OS itself.

This has been the case for me too many times to count - all my "usual" games run fine, benchmarks run fine, the system is stable and blah blah but <whatever> doesnt work. Toss in an older HDD, install a temp OS on it, and probably more than 9/10 times it works, and I end up migrating to the new install anyway because it runs faster and has all the benefits of a new install anyway.
