Another way to get Haggling Ability?

Another way to get Haggling Ability?

Like a fool, I missed out on Haggling on Chapter 1. I think I used persuastion rather than the Axii sign to haggle. Which apparently means I don't get the ability.

Anyways, is there a secondary opportunity for me to get this? I'm playing on Dark, and the extra discount is very helpful for getting the armor pieces.

Or, is there a way to directly modify my game files so that my Geralt can acquire this ability? I just hit Chapter 2, so I don't think going back is an option, unfortunately.

Thanks for the help.

Witcher Wiki is your friend.

Convince the merchant to double the fee by using the Axii sign during The Kayran: A Matter of Price quest in Chapter I. You get the ability after defeating the kayran and picking up payment from the merchant. Can also be obtained by Haggling with the Merchant outside the whore's tent in Chapter 2, Roche's Path. (Needs confirmation)

Tried this. Doesn't work unfortunately. I'm assuming the merchant it's talking about is the one that quotes the Old Book or something like that.

Don't know. Haven't played the game in some time. If that's the only merchant you can haggle with and it doesn't work, then I guess you're not getting Haggling. Unless there's some other unknown way.

theres a guy in the in chapter 2 (roaches path, inside a tent, inside the army camp) that you can bribe. if you succeed, he gives you a copy of "the good book" which adds a journal entry. otherwise he just calls you a cheapskate.

no idea if this contributes to the haggle ability or not. thought it may be relevent.

From what I have been able to tell, the merchant in Flotsam is your only chance. The one in chapter 2 doesn't seem to do anything other than give you a book.

Chapter 1 merchant is your only opportunity to get Haggling. For some reason, players can accept and do not question that the only way to get the "Assassin" Ability is to find Altair in the Prologue. But, when it comes to the Haggling Ability - theories abound about alternate ways to achieve it. There are no other ways.

The ONLY WAY to get the Haggling ability is to Axii the Merchant in Flotsam. If you missed this and do not want to replay - it's not a big deal. You may have to do a bit more farming or be more careful about your oren management, that's all.

i prefer to farm anyway. it gives me more of a means to produce orens, & xp.

haggle would be more essential in a dark mode, etc., when the potential danger might outweigh the risk, especially @ low level.

there are obviously other abilities that can be "cumulatively" attained, hence the reason people might get confused at the fact haggle's obtainability seems to be restricted to an "ONLY WAY" scenario.
