Another Windows 7 Problem.

So I have searched for days and I have found only similar problems.
I can't play the game due to the fact that I don't have the minimum requirements, apparently.
I have checked, I have more than enough but I know there is problems running on W7, I tried to install the various patches but I cant actually patch the game because it can't find the version patched. I bought it from GOG around Christmas time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, or even a link to what i missed because I'm sure I did.

System Specs By the way.
W7 64-Bit
4GB nVidia 540m
6gb ram

Have you tried running the game installer and the patch installer with administrator privileges? (Right click the icon and then click "Run as administrator")

I don't know if it will work, but it seems to solve most issues for things not installing properly on Windows 7 so it's worth a shot :)

If you got TW1 from GOG, it's already patched up to 1.5 Director's Cut, nothing to patch and nothing more to install.

The "minimum requirements" problem on a laptop is due to the built-in GPU switching on the laptop. Recent laptops with Intel CPUs and nVidia GPUs generally have this GPU switching technology called Optimus. It causes The Witcher to detect the wrong GPU and fail.

See this thread for remedies: http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/21474-help-resolving-nvidia-optimus-issues/

make a shortcut of the game using this target path (note this is for the steam version but the command code at the end is what is important) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\the witcher enhanced edition\System\witcher.exe" -dontForceMinReqs

this should fix your problem.
