Any News On The Hotfix For Consoles

I created an account finally to ask about this as my patience with this game has finally started to wear off. Let me start by saying that this is an absolutely amazing game, but at least give us some news on the hotfix for consoles. Because honestly I will never understand why it was released for PC a day and a half ago, but consoles don't even get an update or anything on it. Just a little advice you should of waited to release the PC fix if you couldn't put a fix out on consoles at the same time. I totally understand the verification process on consoles, but that is no exception.

Nope, they have been completely quiet on the subject aside from "we are working on it" and "soon" which is the same thing they've been saying for days now and with not even a hint from CDPR as to any progress being made it makes it seem as if we will not be seeing a fix drop in the near future (I would most likely look to next week at the earliest unless there is some major breakthrough). Like you said, the console community understands that releasing a console fix takes more steps/time (game files more difficult to alter/implement, patch must be approved by Sony/MS, etc.) but sometimes you can't help but feel neglected as a PS4/Xbox user. That being said I haven't been this dedicated to a game in a very long time and I believe many others feel the same way. This is, in my opinion, why passions are running so high with this current situation. We have become strongly connected to this game and not being able to play it to its fullest potential hurts. All we can do is be patient.

Well, I'm not buying HoS before those issues get fixed.... Simple as that

Being that HoS requires 1.10 to play and CDPR is saying to hold on to all 1.08 saves as it is unlikely that a retrofix will be possible that is probably the safest thing to do. I prepurchased HoS but have not played the game since 1.10 was released ( all my original and NG+ saves are still 1.08 ). This will unfortunately continue to be the case until the console hotfix drops and has been confirmed to correct the issue.

We're going to be waiting awhile. They don't have the decency to even acknowledge console users right now.

The lack of communication with console users gives the impression that we won't like what they have to say on the matter. Even still I'd rather they take the time to get it right than to rush a half-assed hotfix that doesn't work for everyone or breaks other things in-game.

Have there been any hotfixes for console versions of the game yet? Nope. On the contrary, the PC version has had plenty of that. Just make a quick search on 1.08.4 to see what I mean.

So as sad as I am to say this, the console players are stuck with the issues 1.10 has brought until after a new big patch is released. When will it happen? I don't know, but I gather it's at least 2 weeks away. Looking back at the immense amount of time that'd passed between 1.08 and 1.10... I'm probably being too optimistic about those 2 weeks.

P.S. What I'm going to say next isn't going to be a rant, well,,, not exactly:smile:I was hoping to squeeze in a NG+ playthrough with HoS before Fallout 4 was out. It turned out the NG+ just got a nasty issue with items that just disappear in it. So my plans are now ruined. Waiting solely for Fallout 4 now and judging how big the game will be... I can't even say when I'll be back for TW3. Not this year, most likely.

That one was to show how CDPR turned me and potentially a lot of people like me away from their game by releasing a badly tested patch.

Marcin posted this in another thread related to when the consoles would see a fix - thought I would pass it along.

Marcin Momot said:
We have the problem identified and the fix is in place. We are working to have it out on consoles as fast as we can. Really sorry you feel this way - believe us. if we could give you the exact time when the update is going to be released, we would. It depends on many things, hence the lack of details regarding the time of release.

A hotfix is not possible for the consoles, on these we can only receive updates. This is one of the reasons some of us are trying to get CDPR to release these patches to the PC community first, allow them to hotfix the problems as they are uncovered and then, once everything is cleaned up release an update to the consoles.

@Treehawk

I saw that Marcin's post. It doesn't contradict anything I said in my previous post. In fact, what Marcin wrote there can be roughly interpreted as this:

They do know how to fix the problem. The problem is the certification process takes time and they most likely can't influence that time much. There is probably a fee to be paid to get your patch certified. Considering all these getting just a small hotfix to hit both consoles might be very cost-inefficient. So they'll just probably include it a new patch along with numereous bug fixes (and bug bringers :stoptrolling:) and improvements to the game.

So nothing new there. Relative hot-fixing is possible on consoles. The questions is are they up for this? I don't think they are.

I remember playing GTA V and things being fixed and tweaked without downloading any patches. There was a glitch where you could keep selling a certain car which was free to you to obtain and sell it to the shop racking up crazy money then the next day the option to sell the car at said garage was taken out. Can you say "hot fix" so don't tell us it can't be done. End of rant.

What us the exact problem? I've yet to give 1.10 much of a shot out the expansion because of bugs. A patch should have been released a month before the expansion to make sure it worked ok. Not a few days before.

That was in GTA Online. The cloud servers enabled Rockstar to do that. The Witcher 3 is not set up that way.

Waiting to release PC updates, even though they are done with them, to release them at the same time as consoles is stupid. You are basically suggesting users of an entire platform be held back, because consoles require certification for patches and have a stranglehold on the content. They can push stuff out for PC whenever they want.

Oh yea, I remember now. Ur right. But I don't believe for a second that they just missed these bugs in ng+. Because the patch was needed for HoS and it was ng+ affected and not the original game, they went ahead and released the patch anyways.

Momot said on twitter that there is no ETA time at the moment and will tell us soon as they have more info..this basically means not this week and might not even be next week.

I think that is a bit of a reach and that tweet was 16hrs ago. No ETA in no way means not this week or maybe next. No ETA could very well mean the fix is off to MS and Sony and they don't know how long it will take them to approve. Or no ETA could even mean mid 2016. heh

I've followed the main @witchergame feed all day, and it was very active. Given the # of upset users, bugs, etc (NG+ being the biggest) - I'd imagine that ASAP is very concrete and they will have this patch out soon, in a matter of days most likely. Of course that is just my opinion and yours is just as valid.

Hi there,

first of all, apologies that the fix apparently did not work for you. If you send your savegame to our support, we may figure out the reason behind it.

Now for a bit of an explanation why this may have happened and basically, a bit of explanation behind how bugs are "fixed" as it were. Note that this applies to fixes to Quest Bugs only, as other departments have different processes.

Ordinarily, a bug is being reported by the players, hopefully including a savegame in which this problem occurs.

We take the savegame and analyze the situation in our tools. We can check where exactly things have gone wrong, why certain conditions were not met, etc etc.

Based on this, we create a fix. We test this fix on the supplied savegame (or savegames, if there are multiple ones that have been sent in). If the savegame loads with the intended fix working, it is then sent off to QA, where the fix is tested in the grander scale of things. This is to ensure that the additional fix won't disrupt anything on a regular playthrough.

If everything is A-OK, this bug is marked as fixed.

Now here is where it gets tricky. A lot of situations can have innumerable reasons to happen. In a game as complex as this one, a bug may have completely different roots, even though it shows up as the same thing to the player. I am assuming this is one such instance. Your playthrough may have resulted in a different situation in the quest structure.

Especially in later stages of the game, it is near impossible for us to test everything the players may end up doing and how they will be doing it. Our QA continuously works overtime (figure of speech by the way, they do get breaks. :) ) to try and cover everything we "think" may happen in a playthrough, but at this level of complexity, it is near impossible to do that.

Regarding the above mentioned bug, I can safely say it was "fixed" here. The Quest Designer responsible sits next to me and I watched him load up that save and it working (we tracked down the issue together). I'm sorry to hear that the fix did not work in your situation.

If the issue indeed persists, please send the relevant savegame to us (again if you already did it) and note that the fix from this patch did not work in your case.

Apologies for the inconvenience but I hope this sheds some light on the process.

Thought I share this on this thread as many of you guys don't really know how cdpr fixes bugs. It takes time of course! but given the huge number of console users ranting about it they will probably release it as soon as possible, probably this week. Note that the bug only affects DLCS and ONLY DLC ITEMS and QUEST. They fixed ALOT in 1.10 they just "forgotten" to include the fix on dlcs apparently.
