Anyone seen the W3 screenshots?

I thought they're pretty awesome, except for the night/indoor lightning. Again.

One of the few things that bummed me out in W2 was the oversaturated colors and weird nighttime lightning, especially compared to the natural color and light of the W1. I thought it all looked a bit too artificial, like a CGI movie.

Judging from the new screenshots I think it's safe to say CDPR is not planning to go back to the more natural, restrained mood of W1. I guess for the Wild Hunt they wanna stick with wild colors :) Oh well...

Yea I like the W1 style more too. Modders will fix if devs won't, i hope.

Not sure if modders are up to such a task. I mean is there a mod to fix the oversaturation in W2? The only one I can think of is the Xbox version :)))

Thanks for the link, forgot to include that! :)

Yeah, the outdoor environs look just stunning, especially the forest. Omg, the forest.

But indoors we see again the ubiquitous red glare, so familiar from W2. I wonder if it's a feature of RedKit or a design decision from CDPR.

You should change the title of this topic Jain lol

Anyway I just lower the brightness to 3 or below if it's night time

What stands out to me are the design and textures of the nordic looking landscapes. The rocks, the sea, the snow and sky. Looking good, lookin' reeealy good.

It does look amazing, but I have to agree with OP that I would love it if indoor/night-time environments were a bit darker. I know, Geralt is able to see in the dark, but not being able to see whether it's night or day is a bit too much. Besides, I personally find it very immersion-breaking that practically all modern games offer no incentive to rest/sleep at night, which means the character stays awake for weeks... Wouldn't it be great if night-time actually made you as a player want to find an inn to rest? That kind of stuff.

About hte lightning, that is one of the things that will change the most when they get their new renderer up and running according to the devs. I do agree that the night shots looks a bit off. I can't wait to experience that weather system and that sky though. Amazing.

To me the screenshots looks nothing next-gen. It's much more or less like TW2. It's not even near Far Cry 3 or even Crysis 2. Yeah the long list of features talking about latest technology and next-gen is just marketing gimmick to me at the moment.

Many has argued that it's using TW2 renderer and RedEngine3 renderer gonna pwnzor!. I really doubt it's gonna make a huge difference. If anything, perhaps FXAA could make a difference. Well i'll try to remain optimistic at the moment. But i'll judge later when they release the latest in-game screenshots. Time will tell all these huge ambitious features and promises could be a reality.

I'm hopeful but let's hope not CDPR let us down.

again

that's still the old renderer, that's why it looks like witcher 2

However, the renderer - the part of the engine that translates the game files into what you ultimately see on screen - is still in development and will boast significant improvements by the time The Witcher 3 ships. "Right now you see the game in the old renderer, but it's going to be taken to a truly next level," says gameplay producer Marek ZSiemak. In particular, the developers tell us that skin shaders and the dynamic lighting model will be markedly more advanced in the final version.

also you barely see shadows in the pictures or rather on some pictures you don't see any shadows (everything looks brightened up).

They said that there will be big difference between those screens and final graphics. They showed screens to show the world, not graphics.

Looks good to me, and I liked the lighting in TW2 fine, so no complaints from me there. The real question to me is how it's going to look in motion, anyway. As beautiful as TW2 looks, the texture pop-in, man... it's a bit much.

It's probably pre alpha build or something. It's also taken from a magazine so, when the 1st real gameplay trailer comes out, we'll all sh*t our pants and get a nerd boner :p
