Anyone wants to trade Steam version for GOG version?

Anyone wants to trade Steam version for GOG version?

Please forgive me if this is a violation of any of the forum rules, if so - please lock and delete.
If it's not a violation of the rules, please don't stone me for condoning the evil DRM...
I'm 99% sure there's no takers but on the off chance - is anyone interested in trading their Steam version of TW3 for a GOG version?
I enjoy the simplicity of having my games library in one place with one friends list.
Thanks!

With the hypothetical value of a GOG key being drastically lower than a steam key for various reasons even if it wasn't against the rules i cant imagine many (if anyone) would do it. Your best bet is to try sell it yourself on ebay or a similar site to put towards a steam purchase.

I realize that it's unlikely to have takers but since it's the same game (with GOG actually having more extras) I'm hoping perhaps there's an anti-DRM person somewhere who got a Steam version of the game as a gift and would prefer to have it on GOG.
It's not enough of an issue for me to make a serious effort since I own TW1 and TW2 on GOG and played those without Steam.

Hypothetically, how can trade of that kind be made?

@Eldanon

Well if you really insist to put TW3 at STEAM, why you don t just add your GoG Version after the install?
Just saying... if the reason is to have it in your steam library. I think you wont find a anti DRM/ STEAM / ORIGIN
/ UPLAY person who brought the game on one of those platforms in the first place. Since (lucky for us)
there is still GoG.

My thoughts were...
1) Find someone that has the Steam game as a gift they haven't used in their inventory AND also has a high post count here that I could trust.
2) Figure out if I can legally transfer my entire GOG account to another person (I'm willing to re-buy TW1 and TW2 on Steam since they go for $2.50 each fairly often).
3) Give them my account and hope they won't screw me by not giving me the steam game =)

Yes, I realize it's all highly unlikely but I thought I'd take a shot. Not a horrible loss if it doesn't work.

That's what I did with TW2 but it still doesn't track amount of time you've spent with the game (somehow I like that feature and I like that they added it to GOG Galaxy). It also doesn't show my Steam friends list that I'm playing TW3 for ungodly amount of hours which is a shame because it would be potential advertisement and induce others to buy =). I have no Galaxy friends and it's likely to stay that way. Once I'm done with TW3, I doubt that Galaxy will ever be running on my machine.

You know you can just launch it from Steam? That way you can access the overlay and talk to friends and shit?
I did that for Dragon Age: Inquisition and plenty of other games.

Access it? Yes... will it track hours spent, show your friends what you're playing - no. More importantly, I'd still have to run Galaxy to get updates and I really would love to just have one system running. I'm anal enough about it that I still haven't bought a single EA game since Origin launched because I don't want to deal with multiple store ecosystems. I did let go of my principles for the Witcher because I love the series more than my principles =)

Ahhh... i see... all the fancy stuff valve cloaks his "service" with, to distract the customer of the fact that they don' t
"own" the games anymore and a other one has control over their legal bought content (even if that "hand" does not
squeeze) *smirk* to use a picture here.

Well you see... HOW important are those features to you? Look TW3 might turn out to be the best RPG for us all.
Does it matter then? Don' t think so... you also might enjoy the fact, that CDPR doesn' t "control" what you do
with the game. Even if the EULA is all the same since others ;)

But ok i might better stop before i get more off topic, as said, its unlikely you will find a user in THIS forum who might
trade a STEAM version for a GOG version... well at last no "anti" STEAM user would do this... since they will not use
STEAM client in the first place at all.

Just a heads up, I had Neverwinter Nights 2 platinum on steam, they seem to no longer have the rights to that game so I can't even install it anymore. At least if you have the game on GOG, there won't be any problems with them losing the rights and locking you out of a game that you paid hard earned money for.

I think the few steam games removed from users' library are multiplayer-only games with shut-down servers.

@ Ghostmd I concur, highly unlikely... but it's even less likely that I'll find someone on Steam forums that would prefer a GOG version... they're probably on Steam for a reason.
As far as how important Steam features are to me? Not terribly... I wouldn't miss this game for the world so if I have to play my third Witcher without steam like I did the first two, I will.
As far as Valve and their evilness... *shrug*. I have nothing but extremely positive things to say about Valve and Steam (I guess I am a bit miffed at the deafening silence about HL3 but other than that - love it).

I just add the games I purchased elsewhere to Steam and make sure the overlay is turned on to keep up with my friends. Better than nothing.
