Anyone went successfully through the border?

So, pretty much like the title goes, 260+ hours and though "hey, why not try go to every corner in the game "a la" Final fantasy, but well for some reason even though it's hard AF I can't seem to get past the border, only time I did manage to kill enough to go past it the goddamn game killed me, don't know wth one shot me but I had over 700 in life and it I went all willynilly passing throught then border then Boom, something just one shot the hell out of my character, tried and tried again but just can't seem to get past more than a couple of meters from the border and something just 1hit kills me every damn time.

Pretty sure you aren't supposed to get out there. It is the nomad only starting area.
Yeah, most likely, just wondering what the assets and rest of the map looks like there, also why even put it in the map if you're not going to be able to get remotely close to it?

Yep.. game just kills you. Same thing if you try to go down to the bottom levels in the apartment complex. You can do a sprint slide to pretty much survive any fall from any height in the game yet if you try it in your apartment complex you die if you touch the bottom floor. I did manage to stick to a ledge close to the bottom for awhile but not much I could do from there except look around. Of course if you didn't die when you hit the floor there's probably no way back up so obviously the death floor is just there to prevent players from getting stuck down there if they weren't smart enough to save beforehand. Not sure why they don't want you making it past the borders though.. they could have just as easily stuck another turn back point on the other side and just let you revel in the success of getting past the guards and turrets for a bit. 'Yay I MADE IT!.." "Congratulations for making it past the border.. here's 200xp.. now *ploop* you dead!"

I did play a Nomad on my first playthrough. So yes, crossed the border successfully.
Even smuggled a frozen Iguana across. Just play the Nomad prologue if you want to explore that part. Far as I know, there's nothing there except the border town, a radio tower and a trailer (where you meet Jackie).

Actually that was my 1st playthrough as well, nomad V with the iguana stuff, but I mean to go back past the border there and just plain explore, see npcs, maybe even that annoying border cop.

Thanks choom! Was actually going around seeing possible points to go through HOPING the game doesn't kill me 3 steps into the other side again.

Oh yeah, the one in the complex, that was fun, spent quite some time seeing on what else I would be able to die there lol.

And the border is a really interesting missed plot they just left there, you could even have another encounter with the nomad life path cop, or even a whole mechanic of you smuggling things and that cop appearing again to bust you, welp I'm off to do some more exploring beyond the border lol

Just to save you a dissapoitment by going there. There's nothing, no npc, no cop, only some shards to pick up and computer to go through, thats it.

Ugh, just got back and had left a save right in the middle of the wall, might as well end the "journey" but thanks for all the info, it is interesting though that even though it is scripted that you die by going through the border you won't if you I guess we can say glitch through it?

My guess is that the "trigger" point where the kill switch activates is on the border, you need to cross it to trigger it. If you go "above" the border you're going also above kill switch trigger point.

Damnit I just wanted to murder that border officer who sold me and Jackie out during the first part of the nomad playthrough

The Border Crossing is the only active part of that end of SoCal. Yucca where the Nomad Origin starts is a ghost town.

Try the Freefly mod if you want to safely explore all of the NC map. There are some really cool vantage points, especially in Pacifica at the top of all those abandoned hotels are.

Konpeki after the heist is also empty, and not surprisingly, if you fly through the building, literally the only floors that exist are the ones you and Jackie visited, as well as the rooms seen while controlling Flathead. Correction, the dude getting a lapdance, both characters were still there lol for some reason.

There's a few area holes in the teleport sections you can get around. The boarder exit is rigged. You can't rush your way through. There's a trigger in the checkpoint. Once its activated. It kills V no matter what. You can destroy the turrets and get behind the wall from the weapons fire. You are marked by the trigger to auto die. There's nothing out there. Just areas used for the Alcado ending, nomad intro. And areas left unfinished where the Bio farm is left open. With the floating top part of the building. Which was probably something planned. The map is roughly 9KM to world edge.

Yeah, it's hard-coded. Used WeMod to give myself invincibility and while it protected me from the enemies, I died right when I passed through the border.

Found a YouTube video showing how to do it a while back but CDPR patched the way through described in the video so that method doesn't work any more. There are however several other ways to get to the other side of the wall without using mods or cheats if one is persistent by exploring thoroughly or being creative with cyberware. One problem people face is that the split second someone posts a video or something showing how to glitch through the wall or something similar, CDPR is likely to patch that in the next game patch too and one area of having fun is cut off unless one uses mods, so nobody wants to share the info. My recommendation is to either be very persistent at looking for ways to the other side of the wall, be it over it, under it, around it or straight through it. Where there is a will there is a way... but where there is no will, there are mods. :) Kind of fun to search for game glitches though too, rewarding when you find one.

There are some really interesting weird areas out beyond the wall all around the border of the map, all of which can be reached. The only place in the game my buddy and I have not been able to get to so far that we know is there, is the Casino north east of North Oak. We can see it decently from the top of the tower in North Oak (a brutal 4 hour long climb that was...). Sadly while it was a lot of fun to explore in the great wilderness beyond the game's imposed artificial fence, there isn't really much out there to see either except a lot of glitched terrain, bigger part of the oil fields, the other side of the chasm where the crane is, a round island that looks like a color palette wheel or something the devs were testing textures on, and a partially constructed building that is floating in the air beyond reach West of biotechnica flats. Found something else that was interesting and we weren't sure what it was, but I believe it might be related to one of the end game questlines so don't want to spoiler it if that's the case (I haven't seen all the endings yet so not entirely sure).

Sorry to not be more specific, but it kinda sucks that if we share certain things they'll probably fix them in a future patch. Good luck on the search, only took us a few hours to find a way, then another, then another... all with patch 1.23. :)
