Apian Phantom quest is bugged for me

I ended up chancing upon the meadery before getting the notice from a board so that may be it. Anyway, I spoke with the halfing questgiver, he told me the story, we haggled on the price, then he tells me to go kill the thing in the basement. So I ride over to the unfinished basement and it's locked and I have no key and the halfing dude doesn't show up to unlock it. I go back to him and now all he says is that I'm there only hope and please go kill that thing. So I can't progress with it. and I can't abandon and reaquire it.

I did this same thing, but when I went back to basement, Halfling showed up behind me with the key. It took a couple tries.

did you tried to activate locked door?

Well how would I know it's locked unless I tried it? And I've already stated the halfling is supposed to show up and unlock, right?

I am having the same problem. Tried everything on that door. Watched the you tube video and still do not have any option but to stare at the door. I dont even get the cut screen where it says you cannot fit have to find another way in. How do you activate the door?

For some reason this door is incredibly finicy. You have to stand at the exactly right spot that you can interact with it. The best you can do is just run back and forth and around and tap the Use-key until it finally reacts.

It was also bugged for me, basically i just jumped around and pressed e on my keyboard until I got the cut scene.
