About the sword: well, people complained about the potions system in W2 as well (that you have to use them before combat and choose wisely which to use). But it was immersive, believable and true to the lore and that's why I personally loved the system as a fan of the world. Not everything gets better just because people expect it or people demand it. Being unique and believing in a strong vision (like best possible immersion) is a strength. And I don't think it would be annoying. There are only few enemies which require a silver sword and Geralt usually informs himself before he hunts down such creatures. And outside of cities he usually travels on horseback so he has his silver sword always close to him. It would be nice if we could at least have the choice whether we want to take the silver sword on our back all the time or not. It's actually as easy as including a button prompt while standing besides your horse to switch between silver sword on back and silver sword stored at the saddle. So it would be up to each individual to decide in which situations they want to have both swords on the back (maybe all the time, maybe only in specific situations if you prefer roleplaying close to the books Geralt...)

If CDPR can properly implement it in game, and remove posibble 'annoyance', I am OK with that...
Never enough lore-friendliness, IMHO ;)

We don't know whether that will be possible for swords. They would have to make the swords on Geralt's back seperated objects that could be put on and off like you want and that's not confirmed yet IRRC.

in w1/w2 you could easily unequip sword and they were not visible, don't see any reason to make w3 different

A bit fancy but would fit quite nicely into Witcher universe. :)

Well, it wasn't possible in W2. But yeah, it shouldn't be that hard but that doesn't mean it will be implemented in the end...

To run around with only one sword and one scabbard (!!!) on the back? I don't think so. But then again maybe my memory is just fucked up... :p

yep you could unequipped swords individually, it wouldn't make sense to do otherwise. in the witcher 2 for a section of the intro we only had one sword if you remember. it was when Geralt had his first encounter with the dragon. but besides that point till you got a new silver sword, you never had any reason to carry just one sword.

Hm, you're right, only one sword and one scabbard at the beginning...

Ok, let's hope that we will be able decide on that ourselves in Witcher 3 as well. I would really like to run around with only one sword and one scabbard on the back. The optimum would be if the silver sword (or the package in which it is transporte) was visible on your horse in the case though... ;)

Oh, by the way, this artwork from Witcher 1 is actually pretty close to the book Geralt (only "addition" is the second breast strap carrying the potions). I hope we can use such a simple, but practical "armorless" leather clothing in Witcher 3...

That looks like fancy trendily armor for girls tbh... :p

Nothing Geralt would ever buy or use though imo.

Oh, and on a side note. I hope the armour sets won't give any stat bonuses or effects or whatever. If at all better armour should just offer better protection from damage and the heavy ones should also have some drawbacks. And yeah, I know very well that a well made plate armor isn't even close as limiting as many people think it is. But Geralt doesn't fight like a traditional medieval knight and his usual enemies aren't highly armoured human opponents but monsters. And he's a mutant being much faster than any normal human being so that should be considered as well...

I cant remember where I heard it but apparently armors will have an effect on how quickly you move and strike, and you can decide what kind of armor you like to fit your play style.

so at least the game lets you somewhat play with who Geralt is in a sense. and lore wise that might make some sense because for the past two games Geralt has been acting without his older memories. I guess CDPR by making him loose his memory in the first game, gives the player license to play around with who thy think Geralt is in the game, and this gives CDPR the opertunity to allow players to make all sorts of choices about what Geralt does his mortality etc (it makes it easier to make an RPG), to an extent, and now in the third game, the character is now a combination of whoever the player wants him to be and who the character actually was before he lost his memory. in certain regards this might give CDPR the ability to play with the character, but people who are still interested in role playing as Geeralt as he was from the books should have that option, just as new players should expect some ability to play the game with the freedom to chose how they like, It is an RPG after all, and even though we role play as Geralt we cant expect every one to want to in all regard.

@eunoia_evanescent 15 with the hood looks cool, reminds me of a flight jacket. Now if it was only as dark as 18, but had some better looking olive green pants. I think Black, Dark Olive Green, Browns and Greys would look really good in different set styles. I don't think Geralt will have a cloak and I'm fine with that, because it might look stupid and not work well with his swords. Now if we do get sets with hoods, that I like. I was not a huge fan of the back of the elf hood style in TW2 tho. But what if they gave us the options to maybe flip the hood up or down in the armor menu screen in our inventory. That wold be cool, just add a little hood on/off tab next to our set.;)
have to agree, that hood option would make any game so much better than anything on the shelf, just with that option. I don't know any game that lets you do that. its so un heard of in a game to allow players to have that option you might just about sell the game with that as a feature.

have to say my favorite's are 1 and 11. the first armor(if it can even be called that), is similar to Geralt's armor in the witcher 1, just without the leather jerkin, and 11 is the next most appealing, simple and seemingly functional armor. ;)

The chains in Geralt's armor

Dear Cd Projekt,
The Witcher 3 looks freaking amazing!!! Seriously I really like the way everything looks, however I just have one thing to complain about. I despise the way the chainmail looks on geralt's armor. Especially on his underarms. It stretches and is a major eyesore especially when everything else looks flawless.View attachment 8712
Other then this the game looks flawless. Keep up the good work Cd Projekt Red! :)

Upgrading armor in the Witcher 3

I ve seen in concept art and i think it has been confirmed that you can upgrade your armor. Will that change the appearance as well as the stats?

Yes, I think I saw somewhere that devs said there will be visable changes after upgrades.
Thought I might be wrong.

Yes to both of your questions (Also confirmed in interviews somewhere among the million that are currently are out there). Although set upgrades will probably only be on specific sets of "special" armor. So I wouldn't go expecting every set to have upgrades, but certainly when they do you'll see both the appearance & stats change.

Way too fancy and sophisticated imo but the direction is right. We shouldn't forget that Geralt is poor in the books. I mean really, really POOR. He earns just enough to get his daily food and water and most of the time not even that much. Sometimes he's able to buy a new leather jerkin but definitely not a fancy one. I think all of his clothes should be simple and cheap. I know that it's hard for talented desingers to make simple looking clothes on porpuse but I think sometimes you have to limit yourself (and your obvious talent) to stay true to the lore and even more to the "feeling and atmosphere" of a character's appearance...

In the first book Geralt was introduced wearing a simple wool coat and and a worn-out black leather jerkin below which was bound together above the shoulders and at the neck. Later he was again described wearing a black wool coat and a a black leather jerkin several times at different occasions (he bought for example a new one in Novigrad). So that seems indeed to be his "standard outfit", together with his black leather gloves with silver spikes and the black headband...

By the way, in the books he always only wears ONE sword on the back, the normal/iron/meteorite one. His potions and his silver sword are usually bound to the saddle of Roach and he only take the silver sword with him when it's really needed for a fight...

So back to the options. I don't mind if there will be sophisticated and fancy armors. I just hope that there will be at least one properly made outfit that realy displays the character we know from the books correctly. In Witcher 2 there wasn't even ony "simple" black leather jerkin to wear, not even talking about that gameplay/combat kind of forced you to wear "better" armour. The books Geralt is some kind of "warrior priest" fighting without real armour for whatever reason, relying completely on his speed and sword skills to be faster and more agile than any of his opponents. And I want to be able to play Geralt exactly like that in Witcher 3...

Oh, and on a side note. I hope the armour sets won't give any stat bonuses or effects or whatever. If at all better armour should just offer better protection from damage and the heavy ones should also have some drawbacks. I don't agree with you.
this is a game, and in a game,to not make ur players completely frustrated, you need to put some "rewards" (after boss battles, challenges etc)...
In that case, armors and weapons are the "reward" for the player.
If you delete these "fancy rich and pretty looking armors" and replace them with some peasants clothes, why in the hell am I going to kill that boss,or that bandit,or that monster knowing that the game will reward me with something cheap? XD

Because it's the way to end up sleeping in a warm inn instead of the snow, or not going hungry, or the only way to get your winter coat out of hock! The claim that rewards entirely out of keeping with the PC's station are what some players think necessary to make the game enjoyable is baloney. Hamlet said it better:
Ay, marry, is ’t.
But to my mind, though I am native here
And to the manner born, it is a custom
More honored in the breach than the observance.
