I would like to see a witcher set like the book version of Geralt.
Maybe in some DLC.

No! I demand this for the release version. Everything else would be a HUGE disappointment.

Yeah, I want some black leather jacket, something simple, I don't like all those metal protections . But this seems the artistic direction, so...I hope at least in some little DLC for this stuff...

I'm still hoping this is just a different set and not a bear armour redesign, because the concept art was so much nicer and I was really looking forward to getting that set.

The Witcher 2 had only a few "base" sets and then they just had different colours, belts/buckles/straps, hoods etc. So I'm still holding out we're looking at a similar situation here and this is just a different set that uses the bear armour structure as its "base". Even with the increased armour variety in TW3 we're still surely going to see some sets that have that situation where they use a base set and just change strap/buckles etc.

Please, for the love of Geralt, I hope I'm right.

Thanks, you found it!
Yeah, that looks like it minus the black spiked gloves and pants from the trailer lol.. I never played dark mode, so I never knew. I hope they don't hide cool armors this time, so we all can enjoy them in TW3 ;)

The most boring way to do the combat in that game, lets hope that TW3 will allow us to do some more stuff with parry and riposte right from the get go, and make it a valid strategy even at higher difficulties and at max level.

I believe they've confirmed that rolling is out, and dodges, sidesteps and pirouettes are in.

Actually, you can roll if you hold down dodge, tapping dodge leads to a sidestep or pirouette depending on the situation. And of course I don't mean that I would NEVER use dodge, just not to the extent that you had to use it in TW2, especially considering that TW2 locked away parrying and other essential combat abilities in the skill tree, making it arguably the best example of a game where the skill-tree is an active detriment to the game, getting in the way of having fun.

First things first: concept art ALWAYS looks way better than everything else in games or movies, get used to it :p

Now about the bear armor, we've seen only 3 base armors I believe, the default one, bear, and the red one from VGX and the newest screenshot in Novigrad. The armors change considerably according to parts used and colors and so on. I personally think that if you take the bear armor from that comparison in the snowy screenshot, but you combine it with the color of the "dress" in the boat dismembering screenshot to the right, you'd get something as close as possible to the original concept art.

It wont look the same, but i think its rather similar enough.

I hope there'll be an armor which is similar to the one Geralt wears in the leaked W2 alpha gameplay or that you're able to customize the armor until it comes close to it. By the way, more or less the same armor (it's rather studded gambeson) was used for the first cover of W2 as well.

Cover render:

The "hand protections" look clumsy and impractical, though; simple black gloves would do as well. Apart from this, in my opinion it still fits best for Geralt or for a witcher in general. It's neither too shabby nor too extravagant, or bulky or whatever would contradict the kind of fighter a witcher is. Well, the pictures should speak for themselves.

That being said, the armor of W3 shown so far definitely doesn't look bad and there will be probably enough variety to satisfy everyone.
