Many games don't "actually" support 16:10. They just add the black stripes from above&below, so the game is actually centered 1080p in a 1200p resolution. I have a 1200p Monitor (Dell U2410).I'm sure that's what MM360 meant by "16:9 only".

I'm another one who wants some clarification on how will the game look on 16:10 display, especially on 1920x1200. I think 16:10 is the most common (or the 2nd one after 4:3) aspect ratio here in Russia, at least that's what i see the most. Even allmost all displays at my work are 16:10 (1680x1050) and i guess they are smth the cheapest and most widely spread (=

Does that mean black bars while not in a conversation? Because that's the problem for me. During a conversation it feels more cinematic but outside of a conversation it would look terrible and stretching out the image doesn't help either. Mass Effect 1 in combat Mass Effect 2 in conversation If you click on the links you can see there are black bars in the conversation at 1920x1200 obviously at 1920x1080 there isn't but still outside of talking to an NPC it looks fine and that's all that worries me.

couple of quick questions:I thought that the release date was going to be 17th - worldwide. I think the FAQ even states this... why was this changed? its like 19th/20th for some countries... its always sad to see things like this happen, showing preference to places like america, and treating others as second-class unimportant gamers... I loved the witcher, and preordered the second games collectors edition as soon as i could... so it really stings to be dismissed like this. yeah its only a couple of days, but it still feels like a slap to the face.second question: ive seen some rather disturbingly ugly looking witcher 2 images, depicting an incredibly terrible art style... all strong lines, simplistic designs, no subtlety or life.. heres an example:http://www.zing.cz/screenshoty/102/zaklinac-2/image-37549http://www.kaermorhen.ru/modules.php?name=Gallery&pg=ViewPic&id=3235&cid=129now the question is, is THIS the new style for the cut-scene segments in the game? (if indeed they are returning?)replacing the beautiful art cards with crass and cheesy animated sex scenes was kind of sad (but i guess necessary, because kids wont play games unless the nude chicks are moving and moaning..), and then i heard there would be no beautiful intro cinematic anymore (which actually crushed me, because they were the icing on the cake in the original game... the intro and outro felt like finding treasure - a really beautiful surprise, especially the ending cinematic... i can not ever remember experiencing a more powerful and rewarding way to end a game)... ...replacing the BEAUTIFUL cut-scene art from the first game, with this web-comic level stuff, would honestly break my heart... i hope im wrong about this, and both of these images have nothing to do with the game itself...and finally, its probably been asked, so someone can answer this quite easily:will the devs offer (for free... i honestly hope you dont jump on the pay-for-every-small-thing DLC bandwagon like everyone else) means for removing any censorship that any versions may contain?and since the GOG version is drm free, and i assume that deals with publishers prevent the same thing happening out of the box for the store copies, will there be any possibility to make boxed copies drm free without resorting to... third party means, i guess i should say... what im asking, is will CDPR ever release a patch or update for boxed copies that - after entering our serial number or whatever, lets us not have to worry about protection methods (like putting the disc in the drive every time we want to play)despite regretfully seeing some of the stuff i loved in the first game being stripped away, im looking forward to playing the game... even if i have to suffer a couple of days of hearing others in forums discussing their play-through's while i wait for my copy to finally be shipped :(

Two very different styles of art there, which is puzzling. One is deliberately mimicking 14th century European woodcuts, a brilliant idea. It really is. It's almost as if the player is reading an old hoary illustrated tome instead of experiencing a modern cut scene. But the other image looks like comic book style flash animation. So I'm a bit confused. Maybe some of the pro artists on the forum can offer their opinions.

Witcher 1 was censored I had to mod the game to get the full game. As for Witcher 2 I really hope it not censored because I will end up waiting to play until people can mod the game with the normal files/videos etc.

@Sweeper41 and CallofstalkerDRM and censorship will be discussed in the CDP Spring Conference 2011, tomorrow at 4.00 PM. Don't miss the event.@klaukeI can try to answer to a few of your questions:

This may depend on distributors not CDP.

You can discuss this in "General discussion" if you like, but not here unfortunatly, since it concerns your own opinion.
and finally, its probably been asked, so someone can answer this quite easily:will the devs offer (for free... i honestly hope you dont jump on the pay-for-every-small-thing DLC bandwagon like everyone else) means for removing any censorship that any versions may contain?
The only DLCs we know so far are those provided with the Premium Edition\Collector's Edition, and it's up to the distributor to choose which one to offer to the customer (as it is said on the main site http://www.thewitcher.com/
and since the GOG version is drm free, and i assume that deals with publishers prevent the same thing happening out of the box for the store copies, will there be any possibility to make boxed copies drm free without resorting to... third party means, i guess i should say.

DRM and cesorship will be discussed on Thursday 14th, in the Spring Conference (link and details are above).(Please DO NOT reply me here)

So, is Triss going to be the only romance option for Geralt in TW2? (not counting any brief side encounters, if present)

It appears the Collector's Edition of Assassins of Kings will not be available in Canada (The link to pre-order from this site does not have a Canada option). Googling reveals that people looking to buy it in Canada have been unable to find anyone that's going to be selling it. Any info on that from the dev team (do you guys know anything about it)? Thanks.

Hello, I have 2 Questions.Question 1Will there be an Option to change the FoV?If it’s below 75 I’m getting sick.Maybe per Config File? If the Game supports it?Well, if not, I will play it even if I am getting sick…preordered already from GoG!But it would be really nice if you guys think about us Gamers with that Problem.Question 2Will the Game include more Tracks performed by Rimead? The End-Track was really great! (Sentinels of Brokilon)Fitted perfectly, but I am sure you will not include Generic Fantasy Music. At least I hope so. *g*

What kids do you imagine play games on PC let a lone RPGs? And the sex cards were much more crass then the cut scenes appear to be in TW2 and offensive to women. Collecting cards of woman Geralt ****ed instead of a scene that is meant to show a relationship between two people when they are being intimate is more crass? Believe it or not sex isn't always pornographic or cheesy especially when it not used for erotic purposes. Heard of the movie Shortbus?

how is a full on sex scene less degrading than an artistic piece of nude art? i just dont quite understand why people seem to think a full on animated scene, no doubt with lots of moaning - with more nudity than the cards ever showed - is a more tasteful option than a very nicely made painting?I mean how many movies these days just throw in very sex scenes just for the sake of appealing to teens and young adults? how often do you find those classy and beneficial to the integrity of the movie?and by 'kids', i can see why i may have been misunderstood.. i was meaning more of the immature gamers... we all know the ones i mean... who enjoy games for their gore and nudity primarily... they pick their games based more on how much flesh and how much swearing is in the game instead of anything else - and lets face it, more and more developers are catering towards these gamers, especially when they want to break into the console market as CDP has said they wanted to do.and as for why these people would play rpgs? well usually they do when they get incredibly mainstreamed and catered to people who ARENT usually rpg gamers. look at dragon age 2.. the first game was great, but the second one was all about the excessive blood and gory violence, and every other bit of dialog revolved crudely around sex (not a prude, im just pointing it out).. they even stripped out a lot of the more challenging gameplay and tactics - and people loved it! - even though the story and characters were now little more than an afterthought.... My concern is that the same thing might be happening here. Making the focus on arcade action, lots of cheap sex scenes, and plenty of blood, just to get gamers attention. Wouldnt that worry anyone else? . it would just be such a pity to see the witcher go the same was as most franchises go... especially after such an amazing first game. And finally, secondchildren didnt answer the question - or didnt see it, if thats the case i apologize... ill get to the point:the images i posted: ARE they the new art style for cut-scenes?look, if it sounds like im being overly critical, its ONLY because i LOVED the first game so much.. its one of the most enjoyable games ive ever played, and there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with it apart from the combat not flowing as nicely as id have liked.the presentation was fantastic, characters, story, atmosphere... brilliant.Im just so worried after seeing so many great franchises turn out so badly because all developers these days are dumbing down their games, and targeting the mainstream shallow gamers... because thats where all the money is.. and i just dont want that to happen here...im just a bit scared i guess. ive been looking forward to this for so long.

I think you got it all wrong, the problem was never about the nudity, but how the cards made the girls into trophies. I never had a problem with it, but I think most people who didnt like the cards, never had a problem with there beeing sex and nudity.

Game companies in this industry avoids nudity as the plague. Clothed leg humping is okey, but god forbid anyone is naked. If they were all about catering to the industry and trying to get on the consoles, they first thing that would be dropped would be sex and nudity. But luckily they dont dumb down this game, instead the make a game like the books, dealing with adult situations.

Why does a sex scene in a game automatically have to be cheap? The preview clip containing nudity that got released is one of the best scenes dealing with nudity Ive seen in a game. nothing cheap about it all.

ok so the cards were less about nudity and more about political correctness? political correctness being a driving force behind design decisions always leads to terrible results: see DA2's 'everyone is now bisexual so that we dont offend anyone' romances. and when i say nudity, fine, i dont mean full nudity, i should have stated sexuality... be it larged breasted women, skimpy outfits, plenty of suggestive and crude dialog... while companies shy away from nudity, they never shy away from this other stuff.as for why does a sex scene have to be cheap.. again ill use movies as my reference. yes yes i know theyre not the same medium, but my point is, how often is sex (either shown, or sexuality heavily implied) in movies purely for attracting the male audience? and how often is it portrayed well OR give integrity to the film? its few and far between.now im not saying w2 CANT be the exception or anything, its just the sheer number of times this kind of stuff cheapens the game instead of giving it depth, give me cause for concern.I feel im fighting against fanatical fandom here, who would defend any choices CDP make whatever they are... can no one see where my concern comes from? can no one seen how often sexuality is used in games these days (doesnt have to be nudity) PURELY to appeal to immature male gamers (which arguably are quite a large demographic), and why it wouldnt worry me?and ill say again, no im not a prude, and no - sex or sex in games doesnt OFFEND me, ill just restate what i said earlier... i loved the first game, and i see a lot of the good things i love in gaming slowly slipping away and being lost to mainstream simplified and easy gaming. i dont want to lose witcher and cdp to the vortex of mainstream that pretty much every other developer and gaming franchise is being lost to.i love the first game and have been waiting for the sequel since i finished the original all those years ago... but slowly every gaming franchise that i love, i have to watch become worse and worse in the quest to attract immature gamers that just want flash and no substance... it kind of scares me. i love games and i love gaming, and it just hurts to see games becoming dumber and dumber, and more and more pandering to the lowest common denominator...perhaps its just better... easier... to never love games :(
