Ok, this is one that has been bugging me since i first played the game last May.

Is this a huge plot hole or a typo?

Four Months Before

When Iorveth first meets Letho, that's what I read at the start of the flashback. But is has been only Four Weeks Earlier that an attempt has been made against the life of King Foltest. If King Demavend was killed Four Months Later indeed, that means 3 months before the attempt.

When Roche is questioning Geralt and he mentions that, Geralt's response is one of someone who didn't know about the assassination of the King of Aedir.

1 - Wouldn't news travel a little faster than that? Since Geralt arrived in Vizima's Outskirts to the time when he defeated the Gran Master, which was not overnight in my book (with all the traveling to the country side...) Wouldn't Geralt know about such assassination?

2 - Three months since a King was assassinated with the assassin still at large... Wouldn't Foltest be much more concerned about his own safety when the first assassin attempted against his life, in his own Castle?

Now, if it should read "Four Weeks Before" in the sequel, it would make a lot more sense to me. Demavend killed almost at the same that another assassin witcher failed due to the opportunistic presence of Geralt in Vizima.

You're taking the "four months" from the caption on the flashback at the beginning of Chapter 1, I assume?

I think it's a mistake and an oversight, and effectively a typo. There's actually a contradiction on this:

On Iorveth Path, when you have a chat with Iorveth in Vergen about the meeting, he says "two months ago". The sound quality is different for this section of dialogue compared to everything before and after. As a few weeks have passed since the Prologue, this would probably make it around 4-6 weeks before the game start.

I totally agree with you. The news should have got out earlier if it was four months ago, and as Geralt was with Foltest, he should have known about it. And Geralt was probably en route from Kaer Morhen to Vizima "four months ago" and therefore didn't have an alibi.

I suspect that the developers also realised this at some late stage in the game, and changed it in one place but not the other, at least on the English language version.

I'd be curious to know if the other language versions have the same discrepancy. It's also going to be interesting if this comes up in the new scenes due later this quarter.

Funny that you write this now because last night when I was playing, I also realized that something's got to be wrong with that "Four months earlier" statement, but in a completely different way.

When we get all this new x-box content for free on the pc, can you allow us to pay something to it voluntarily on gog or this site (through paypal or whatever). The content i've recieved so far in updates and patches exceeds what I got with my signature edition of Dragon Age 2, so I have no problem with chipping in £10-20 for my favourite developer.

Honestly, I think we deserve it, especially the purported fixes. Certain aspect of the game were a little rushed.
