> o_O apparently my topic got moved...just put where it should be in the first place :)> but I need version... not graphic card i am talking aboutthat's the chip, versions kinda vary on how the manufacturer wants it ( GT/GS )if it has that chip it would be ok> Nvidia Geforce Go7150Mmeaning:*Geforce - marketing name*7150 - CHIP*Go and M - meaning Mobille line of CARDSso just replace that 7150 with what i've said7600 - Low/Medium8600 - Medium/High9600 - Highit also depends on speed of CPU, RAM size, video RAM size, speed of hard-drive

Laptops for games cost more than the ordinary business grade laptops because they have REAL video cards, and that 7150 is not, AS YOU HAVE BEEN TOLD. The Intel 3100 is not a video card. The Radeon Xpress3100 is not a video card. Video CHIPS are inadequate, which is what the game requirements tell you. Nothing slower than a Radeon 9800 Pro is usable. http://www.gpureview.com/show_cards.php?card1=36&card2=187

You obviously cannot AFFORD a game-capable laptop, unless the game is on the order of Bejeweled. Well, (EDIT) looky at this one, after all:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220349That's $999, with a REAL 600-plus video card! Check the link you were given to GPU Review? Compare any "200" level card you find there (if there are any) to the minimum "600" that is required (so far, you keep finding nothing but cheap onboard chips. THOSE DON'T COUNT.)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220346This one's a bit pricier.

One major recommmendation is that you should not update your graphics drivers all the time. You should only update them when you're having issues. In this case, players seem to be having problems so the download seems neccessary. However, you should definitely research the best driver currently. Just because its the lastest, does not mean it will perform better. You'll see alot of benchmarking with different drivers.

There is a fair amount of misinformation here:

First thing you should do is set you virtual memory to 1.5 your RAM. If you have 4 gig, thats technically 4092 MB. You should put 6138 MB or let windows configure it for you. Windows does a damn good job allocating vitual memory.
the 1.5Gb thingie is a myth, Windows does not work it out so nicely either, a fixed swapfile size gets you a free from fragmentation swapfile ( usually )also, cause The Wither uses only 1.5gb more of ram makes the swapfile useless, but Windows decides stupidly to allocate it anyway...this is a long discussion, that has be rehashed so many times :(
Everything uses virutal mem, everything. Once mroe RAM is needed, it spills into VMem. Every where you look for optimizing Windows XP you'll find the recommended Vmem is x1.5 your RAM, thats fact. I'm only using 2gig of RAM, a quad processor, and virual mem 1.5 x my RAM. I have absolutely no problems running any part of this game.

You are confusing virtual memory with swap file. Virtual Memomry is a method/system used to implement memory management in most modern operating systems. A swap/page file is a file used when the available physical memory runs out. Those memory pages are stored on disk in a page file (Windows) or swap partirion (UNIX). The 1.5x recommendation stems from old unix days (iirc) when you were dealing with hundreds of megabytes, not thousands. With 4G RAM, it's debatable if you would even NEED a page file. Mine is set to 1G and it's currently using only 100MB. Think about it. For you to NEED to use the page file, all 4G need to be in use. By setting your pagefile to ~6GB you are effectively saying that you expect to be utilisiing 10GB (4GB of RAM + 6GB of swap/paging) of memory pages for the entire OS!! Now if you have only 2GB of RAM, have a pagefile of say 2G seems reasonable, since the Witcher will use close to 2GB and your background apps are no doubt using up memory. Also, there is no hardware-defined reason why his non-SLI NVIDIA card shouldn't work well with an Intel chipset. The Intel northbridge is vendor independent. The only thing you cannot do is run SLI, but single cards work fine. There is SOME performance difference between 790i and p45/x48 but seriously nothing to write home about. I was using an slower NVIDIA card to play Witcher on my Interl rig. I have a rig that's slightly worse that the OP (my GFX card is only a 3870) and I'm running fine at 1680x1050 WITHOUT AA. I would tentatively suggest that the problem is too high a resolution or crappy NVIDIA drivers (why I left NVIDIA), This game does need a pretty phenomenal machine to play with setting maxxed at huge resolutions. My other suggestions would be to tone down/off AA and AF and see if that improves speed

Actually my problem is fixed..I don't agree with all those overclocking techniques just to run this game as long as the machine is strong.. and mine is.I just installed Windows Vista which has DirectX10..The game runs super smooth on the highest settings !!Thank you very much for trying to help out.. :) however, it wasn't about overclocking anything or changing the paging, obviously.. :-\

i would hope so. yours has a better processor and ram and video card than mine and i run the game just fine on a combination of medium/high settings. the frags/psecond is greatly reduced on straight up default high settings, for me, but you should be just fine.

Personally, I find it hard to believe it was DX10. Perhaps somewhere when you were removing drivers something was removed or corrupted by accident. Perhaps even an fresh new DX9 would have been sufficient. After reading alot of other issues with people, I find the common denominator to either be driver problems and running the game more than 1280 x 1024. There's not a big difference for going higher.

the DirectX installer contains and installs both DX9 and DX10, but DX10 can be used only on Vista ( so far :D )
