So it's got a shitload of problems. People have been turning too many blind eyes to Ubisoft's crap because it's easy to shit on EA.

Gotta say though. The kissing animations in this game are amazing.

I confess, I jumped the gun a bit too soon. I dislike Ubisoft in general and when you dislike something you easily find new reasons to be irritated. So now I'm trying to understand this microtransactions issue a bit better because I realize I may have misinterpreted it. I want to get my facts straight.

Someone who received a copy for review noted that the microtransactions feature is down and the servers are offline.

This in turn led people to believe Ubisoft intentionally kept the servers down to deceive people about the amount of microtransactions in the game.

Am I on course so far? If so, what I'm wondering is - even if the servers were down and you couldn't actually pay, a reviewer would still see that this or that action in the game required an online server. Meaning, it required payment, even if the procedure was unavailable. In that case, it's not misleading about the amount of microtransactions, right?

What am I missing here?

Yep, the title of that thread on GAF is a bit misleading, sorry for linking it, should´ve done more research before posting it...

There's only one way to change Ubisoft and any purely money driven publisher out there for that matter and that is through our wallets. When they see those figures start plummeting down they will change their approach. Until then we can complain and point fingers as much as we want but when people keep buying crap, crap is what we'll get.

I went to open a chest and a pop-up appeared and said: you need to play the companion app to open this chest. This was really immersion-breaking.

Makes me wonder what the fuck the 800MB day one patch "fixed".

If PS4 version is having problems like this I do not want to even delve deeper into PC issues.

Dual SLI GTX 980s cannot run this game on Ultra settings in stable 60 FPS (according to TotalBiscuit).

I wanted to watch a youtube Let's Play of the game. I believe that guy who I was watching (TheRadBrad) was playing PS4 version. Anytime there're more NPCs on the screen, framerate drops to hell (it's noticeable on youtube...). Pop-in is unacceptable - it looks like a goddamn beta.
I'm so glad I've decided not to buy anything Ubisoft releases at launch. I'll probably pick up AC Unity in summer/next year, after it comes on Steam Sale for 5-10 euros.

They were always awful (especially when it comes to PC users), but so far I've been paying full price for their games. No more.
They're officially worse than EA in my book now.

@randyrhoads: Yep that was the place where I got the worst framerate, fucking strange. At least technical problems on AC3 were funny and not nearly gamebreaking.

In all I've seen about five or six bad areas, including cutscenes. Framerate in crowds drop to about 20. Enough that console only players should notice. Button response can also get pretty bad.

I put this video on Chris' PS4 or XBone thread, so i'm putting it here as well. It seems not only PCs but also the consoles are having some optimization problems as well.

I said this in another thread but it was sort of off topic.

This video just proves how lazy or bad the developers at Ubisoft are. Drops to the 20s or less in scenes where just 2 people are on screen. The game is locked at 30FPS and is 900p. Meanwhile, Metal Gear Solid V is an open world game that runs at a near constant 60FPS at native 1080p on PS4 and 60FPS 720p on Xbox One. Even in a jungle type environment with a ton of stuff on screen. MGSV looks just as good or better than AC:U. The hardware is not at fault here, it is the people making the game.

Picture related. Clearly they did not

IT'S NOT OVER YET. They keep on digging.

Edit: Corrected resolution about the Xbox One. It is not 900p but 720p

I guess now people will finally see that Ubisoft is the next rising evil, EA pales in comparison.

Despite the bad aspects I'm still enjoying the game. I liked all the side missions and the renovation of our residence, the café théâtre. Also, playing in French is really worth it(if you understand).

I wouldn't say they pale in comparison, but @Costin is not wrong in that EA gets flak while compared to Ubi who doesn't get enough.

I attempted to play it in French, but it didn't last long as I couldn't take it. I'm sure it's different if you speak it though. I'm the kind of person who takes full advantage of subs because of my bad hearing and I was messing up too much focusing purely on the bottom subs.

this is the only proven strategy, but it's also utterly ineffective because probably less than 1 percent of consumers actually adhere to it. most cave after some time. or they buy it when it's on sale and they think they're sticking it to the man that way.

The game just looks weird to me. It...like has some sort of blue filter or something. Or lighting isn't properly affecting somethings. Just is odd
