I downloaded the demo last night and get the static also during the intro and gameplay. I use XP, GEforce 6800 vid card, creative soundlblaster live 5.1 sound card and have the latest drivers and direct X. I also messed with hardware accelerations and didn't work.

Do you have EAX turned on ?

Well I ran Win update a few times. I didnt see anything obvious that would have helped. But afterward I checked EAX and the EAX Volume was turned all the way down. I turned it up, works fine now. Wierd all my other games have been working without it it I guess. but hey it works....

For some reason after a decent workout the game will do a CD-skip on all sound effects. EAX is not enabled as it makes audio sound bad altogether.Specs:Opty 170 @ 2300MHz 230x10 under XP-90DFI Ultra-D NF41.5GB DDR400 (Hynix 1GB & 512MB)ATI X1950 Pro 256MB PCIe Omega 484 driverOn-board Karajan sound using bundled 6.70 nVidia driver430W Seasonic PSUWindows XP Pro SP2WITCHER VERSION 1.3.I've tried installing a Creative X-Fi & Audigy 2 ZS but they will not detect at all. Typical of Creative..The only way to rectify this is to reboot the PC. Sounds like a pagefile problem. Can anyone share their experience with audio problems?

is the Karajan made by Creative or by DFI?try newer nVidia/DFI drivers, if available

karajan audio is native to the dfi motherboard. Ill try and find an update but the 6.70 file from nvidia.com is the latest version. Not sure where to go to find the karajan audio website. The most annoying part about the stuttering is during dialogue. Lots and lots of audio skipping. The volume needs turning down as it is virtually impossible to understand what is being said..If it takes a long time to stuff the sound, wouldnt this mean i am yet another victim of the memory leak problem?

The X-Fi XM & Audigy 2 ZS cards are the only spares I have. Neither will detect so I cannot find out if these cards will help alleviate the audio lag problems.I'm not the only one who has this problem with memory leaking. Basically the sound stutters & performance drops quite a bit until the PC is restarted. Always takes a few areas to load before the problems erupt. Nevermind though, I've just upgraded to Quad 6600 with 9800GTX & haven't had any of the problems as before with the AMD 939 system. The game is still loaded on the older box but until someone can help with the Creative problem, I can't help out here.

I have the same problem... Game runs OK but after an hour of playing (sometimes less, sometimes more) the sound gets all clitchy, and I have to restart my computer if I want to play the game with correct sound. Restarting the game doesn't have any effect. All my drivers are up to date, the game is updated with 1.7 version, and it's the first game that I have with this kind of problem...Please, any solutions??Thanks!sorry for my enlgish!

Greetings,My issue is similar enough that I'm replying here instead of starting a new topic. The issue that I'm seeing is that the sound gets choppy after extended play. It's longer than the OP (15 minutes). It's more like about an hour for me. And I'm not hearing static. Choppy is the best way I can explain it. I'd be glad to use FRAPS (or some other method) to record a video of it happening if that would help.I also must reboot my PC to resolve, and I've never seen this problem with other games on this PC. I've seen the issue with EAX both enabled and disabled (via the in-game checkbox).I have a Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card and a decent PC. It's an Athlon 3800+ X2 with 2 GB RAM, an 8800 GTS 320 MB, running Windows XP SP3. I'm using Creative's sound card driver, and the PC is running minimal services and such and I defrag often. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate. Everything else is fine with the game for the most part but this is really annoying. Thanks in advance.P.S. I'm running the 1.3 patch.

For the AMD/X2 users the "fix" is quite simple - a friend of mine had the same issue and it was mitigated quickly by downloading the AMD CPU driver and more importantly the AMD Dual Core Optimizer, installing these fixed the stuttering issues. Both can be obtained from:http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.htmlWindows 2000/XP ->AMD Dual Core Optimizer:http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/AMD_Dual-Core_Optimizer_113.zipAMD CPU processor driver:http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/AMD_Processor_Driver_1320053.zipYou can install both then reboot, no need to reboot twice.
