No issue on Series X for me, and no change since release about frequency of auto-save (about every 3-5 minutes out of combat and each time you exit vendor/stash) 
Did you disable the cross progression option in game options ? (which is useless if you don't plan to share your saves on another platform).

I literally mean non stop auto saving, and I want to disable cross progression but not seeing it in game options.
OK, it showed up, I turned off cross progression and going to see if that helps.
That was the issue, thanks. Not auto saving non stop now and running much smoother.
